Book Description
Through in-depth, qualitative analysis of data from archives and research sites in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States, The Making of Mbano: British Colonialism, Resistance, and Diplomatic Engagements in Southeastern Nigeria, 1906-1960 argues that African people in Mbano consistently and fearlessly invoked their pre-colonial socio-cultural, political, and economic values in resisting, scrutinizing, and ultimately negotiating with the British colonial government. In investigating Africa’s complex and diverse engagements with the British through the lens of the Mbano colonial experience, Ogechi E. Anyanwu highlights the fascinating intersection of foreign and indigenous notions of community, culture, political economy, religion, and gender in shaping the Mbano colonial identity. Anyanwu carefully introduces readers to a wider variety of people in colonial Mbano who contributed to the historical experience of Southeastern Nigeria and whose names do not appear in history books.

Book Description
German colonial history in today Tanzania Mainlad is extensively documented, but it has not been studied from its memory perspective despite it being widely remembered among the Tanzanians. This book documents German colonial memories as shared cultural legacy that exists in forms of monuments, archives and historical sites. It also presents them as trans-generational memory narratives that live in people's memories that are also commemorated in different ways like erection of war monuments. The book analyzes memories of colonialism from the historical perspective, showing how the collective memories like monuments and commemorations have undergone structural and institutional changes over time. The study uses Michael Rothberg's multi-directional theory, together with other theoretical approaches to analyze various forms of German colonial memories in Tanzanian context. The findings, which are analyzed historically, indicate that the collective memories of the Germans are cultural, communicative, commemorative, functional and topographical. They are also traumatic as well as nostalgic.

Book Description
The dynamism of religion all over the world presupposes that discourse on it generally is a continuous exercise. As religion influences the environment of its operation so also is the influence of the environment on the practice of religion. Nigeria, a multi-religious nation has experienced and is still experiencing the positive as well the negative aspects of religious practices in her socio-political, economic and cultural spheres. There is no doubt that religion is manipulated by some people, which portray it in bad light and makes it vulnerable to criticisms despite the unanimity about its potential to be a force for good in the society. Recent developments in Nigeria indicate that religion has a role in the survival or otherwise of the country. Such include the re-introduction of Sharicah penal code in some states in the northern part of the country, the emergence of Islamic banks, proliferation of private faith-based tertiary institutions, emergence of different factions and sects in religions and the challenge of insurgency using religion as camouflage in the name of the Boko Haram. This book addresses contemporary issues in the use of religion in Nigeria. Its uniqueness lies in the calibre of notable scholars who contributed to it from various ethno-religious and geographical backgrounds. It contains the views of eminent scholars from Islam and Christianity and is jointly edited by experienced professors in the two faiths. The overall aim is to enhance better understanding of religion and to promote peaceful co-existence between and among adherents of the two religions.

Book Description
This book is an unusually exploration of the ethnobotanical study, through interdisciplinary approach, that combines linguistics, botany and anthropological aspects. It gives an in-depth account of the practical life of the Digo in their day-to-day knowledge and conception of the plant world. The Digo were involved in the study as a representative of the African ethnic groups, which provides for a scholastic challenge to prove other wise. The subject matter is drawn from the general botanical topics, viz plant description, naming, identification, and classification. The coverage, however, is incomplete without considering the fields of plant knowledge application such as agriculture and healing. The book provides for evidence to recognise that, although unwritten, the African Traditional Plant knowledge is not muddled, as first impressions might suggest.

Book Description
The idea behind The Kpim of Feminism was rooted in the mind of Fada Iroegbu in 2004 following a friendly but heated argument he had with Mrs.Wioletta Ukagba (the wife of one of the current co-editors of this book) who challenged Fada Iroegbu to direct his sharp brain and pen to the defence of women, especially the Nigeria women, who were and still are passing through various kinds of trans-valuation of values, economic exploitation, cultural and scientific manipulations, political marginalization and irredentism and various shades of sexualisation, harassment, exploitation, and commercialization. Fada Iroegbu took up this challenge to kpiminize womanhood, but unfortunately was unable to completely realise his dream before death struck. As it is with many great and indefatigable minds or thinkers who left behind unfinished works, we, his friends, family, interlocutors, well-wishers, men and women of good will, have come together to actualize one of his felt knowledge dreams. The fight for equality between women and men can sometimes not only be exaggerated but also plunged in controversy we cannot fathom The search for the truth about the relationship that ought to exist between male and female should constitute The Kpim of Feminism Dr. George Uzoma Ukagba, Editor, University of Benin In light of the word feminism conjuring up different images to different people, The Kpim of Feminism reflects the sensitivity and objectivity to the concept of feminism by scholars drawing from their fields and life experiences The book insists that women and men be encouraged to emancipate and empower one another together. Dr. Obioma Des-Obi, Editor, Imo State University The Kpim of Feminism, a rare harvest of academic erudition from across the globe, showcases the different modalities from which issues, theories and debates on feminism and other gender-related polemics, past, present and future, could be considered. Dr. Iks J. Nwankwor, Editor, University of Uyo Without mincing words, this book is a welcome intellectual assembly and has come out at the right time with deep critical insights and values for students, researchers, and public and policy issues in both local and global prospects. Book Description
Fighting to a finish is a true story of the author’s experiences in a war between a Nigerian “Goliath” and a Biafran “David” where the David fought back with everything he had until he could fight no more. The author detailed his experiences as he led his men in the battle fields at Aba; Ogidi-Abagana; Afor Ugiri-Umuahia; Ngwa-Ntodino; Umuahia-through Imo River to Umuezealla Owere. The story concluded with the dispersal of worn out Biafran soldiers and the author’s 35-mile trek though highways and bush paths to his home. The book reveals that the author’s survival without a scratch during the two year ordeal was due to a little bit of good judgement and a great deal of good luck.
