Excerpt from The Laws of the General Assembly of North-Carolina, Passed in the Year 1811 VIII. And be it enacted. That the presence 'of proprietors having a majority of shares shall be necesa. Sary to constitute a general meeting, and that from and after the first meeting of the subscribers the ge neral meeting shall be held on' the first t'vlonday in May in every yeam, at such convenient places as shall from time to time be appointed by. The said general meeting; but if a sufficient number should not attend on that day, the proprietors who do attend may adjmrn such meeting from day to day, till a general meet ing of the proprietors shall 'be had, which may be continued from day to day until the besiness of the Company is finished to which meeting the President and Directors shall make report, and render dis tinct aitdjust accounts of all their proceedings, and on finding them fairly and justly stated, the proprie tors then presentyor a majority of them, shall give a certificate thereof, a duplicate of which shall be en tered on the said C )mpany's books and at such yearly generoltmeeting, after leaving in the hands of the Treasurer such 'sum as the proprietors, or a majority of then-1 sh tll judge necessary for repairs and con tingent charges, an equal dividend ofall the nett profits arising from the tolls hereby granted, shall be or dered and made to the proprietors of the said Contpany in proportion to their several shares And on any emergency in the interval betweenahe saidyearly meetings, the President or a majority of the Directors may appoint a general meeting of the proprietors of the.ci>mpany at any convenient place, giving at least one month previous notice in the Virginia and north-carolina Gazettes, which meeting may be adjourn ed and continued as aforesaid.
