Book Description
In modern times until recently, the New Covenant and the Kit'vei B'rit Chadashah (New Testament) were considered solely Christian while God's Law as an approach to biblical living has been considered exclusively Jewish and limited to the commandments given through Moses. In addition to mainstream Judaism's having rejected Yeshua as Messiah, a chasm of interpretation and application of Scripture developed between Judaism and Christianity such that Judaism's approach to holiness has come to be through obedience to law, while Christianity's approach has largely been through faith and grace apart from law. The resurgence of Jewish belief in Messiah Yeshua in the Twentieth Century has created the need for a fresh look at God's law applied with New Covenant principles and the Holy Spirit's interpretation, and taking into account historic Rabbinical interpretations as well. This book seeks to fulfill that need by codifying and commenting on God's mitzvot wherever they may be found in the Torah, the Nev'im, the Ketuvim, while cross-referencing to the Besorah (Gospels) and the Apostolic Writings.

Book Description
Companions and Competitors is the third volume of John Meier's monumental series, A Marginal Jew: Rethinking the Historical Jesus. A detailed and critical treatment of all the main questions surrounding the historical Jesus, A Marginal Jew serves as a healthy antidote to the many superficial and trendy treatments of Jesus that have flooded the market. Volume 1 laid out the method to be used in pursuing a critical quest for the historical Jesus and sketched his cultural, political, and familial background. Volume 2 focused on John the Baptist; Jesus' message of the kingdom of God; and his startling deeds, believed by himself and his followers to be miracles. Volume 3 widens the spotlight from Jesus himself to the various groups around him, including his followers (the crowds, disciples, the circle of the Twelve) and his competitors (the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Essenes and Qumranites, the Samaritans, the scribes, the Herodians, and the Zealots). In the process, important insights into how Jesus contoured his ministry emerge. Contrary to the popular idea that he was some egalitarian Cynic philosopher with no concern for structures, Jesus clearly provided his movement with shape and structure. His followers roughly comprised three concentric circles. In the outer circle were the curious crowds who came and went. In the middle circle were disciples whom Jesus himself chose to share his journeys. The innermost circle was made up of the Twelve, i.e. twelve disciples whom Jesus selected to symbolize and begin the great regathering of the twelve tribes of Israel in the end time. Jesus made sure that the disciples in his movement were marked off by distinctive behavior and prayer. His movement was anything but an amorphous egalitarian mob. One reason why Jesus was so intent on creating structures and identity badges was that he was consciously competing against rival religious and political movements, all vying for influence. Jesus presented one vision of what it meant to be Israel. The Pharisees, Sadducees, Essenes, etc., all offered sharply contrasting visions for Israel to preserve its identity and fulfill its destiny. Perhaps the greatest mistake of some recent portraits of the historical Jesus, notably that of the Jesus Seminar, has been to downplay the Jewish nature of Jesus in favor of a vaguer and sometimes dubious setting in Greco-Roman culture. In the face of such distortions this volume hammers home the oft-mentioned but rarely fathomed slogan "Jesus the Jew."

Book Description
In this groundbreaking book, Michael Gorman asks why there is no theory or model of the atonement called the "new-covenant" model, since this understanding of the atonement is likely the earliest in the Christian tradition, going back to Jesus himself. Gorman argues that most models of the atonement over-emphasize the penultimate purposes of Jesus' death and the "mechanics" of the atonement, rather than its ultimate purpose: to create a transformed, Spirit-filled people of God. The New Testament's various atonement metaphors are part of a remarkably coherent picture of Jesus' death as that which brings about the new covenant (and thus the new community) promised by the prophets, which is also the covenant of peace. Gorman therefore proposes a new model of the atonement that is really not new at all--the new-covenant model. He argues that this is not merely an ancient model in need of rediscovery, but also a more comprehensive, integrated, participatory, communal, and missional model than any of the major models in the tradition. Life in this new covenant, Gorman argues, is a life of communal and individual participation in Jesus' faithful, loving, peacemaking death. Written for both academics and church leaders, this book will challenge all who read it to re-think and re-articulate the meaning of Christ's death for us.

Book Description
Jesus' Hebrew name is Yeshua which means "He will save" or "salvation." His coming is in fulfillment of the promises of God to send salvation to His people. God recorded these promises through Moses and the prophets in the Old Testament, the scriptures from Moses to Malachi. Yeshua says that all the scriptures are about Him.John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.John 5:46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. Lu 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,This volume contains twelve newly revised in depth studies of a few of the places in the Old Testament which testify about Yeshua as the Messiah who is coming again. In this volume we continue to explore many of the familiar personalities of the Bible Such as Moses, Joshua, Jacob and King Josiah, the last good King of Judah. We examine the incredible depth of the sacrificial system as a shadow of Messiah and seek out the real treasure of the rainbow in "God's Bow and Arrow." We finish this volume with a powerful teaching about the festival of Hanukkah and its prophetic implications about Yeshua's return. Each lesson has a student notes section and discussion questions for use individually or with a group. Join us as we tear out the blank page between the Old Testament and the New Testament and see the scriptures as one unified book given to reveal the character of God and the two comings of Yeshua!John 1:45 ...We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.

Book Description
"The Torah doesn't speak of Jesus at all!" "You're completely misinterpreting Isaiah!" "This verse has absolutely nothing to do with your Jesus! It's not even a messianic prophecy!" "As for the real messianic prophecies, Jesus fulfilled none of them." These are some objections raised by Jews regarding Jesus as the Messiah. Using the Hebrew Bible, rabbinic texts, and the New Testament, Dr. Michael Brown provides thorough answers to nearly forty such objections. This third installment of Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus looks specifically at questions raised about messianic prophecies in Isaiah, Daniel, Psalms, Haggai, and Zechariah. It's an invaluable resource for seekers and for anyone wanting to point students of the Torah to Jesus.
