Book Description
In Irrevocable , King revolutionizes our understanding of the nature and scope of salvation in Scripture and our lives today. Drawing on his trademark attentiveness to the biblical text and the world of both Old and New Testaments, King helps us untangle some of the Apostle Paul's most confounding thought: a portion of his famous letter to the Romans, specifically chapters 9-11. Drawing on Hebrew eschatological and apocalyptic influences, the teachings of Jesus, and a unique understanding of the epistle writer's place in history, King demonstrates that this portion of Scripture--often used in religious history to exclude Jewish people from the table of blessing--means the exact opposite of what it's commonly taken to mean, and this is good news for us all. Irrevocable is a ground-breaking work of canonical theology, with an attention to biblical detail that impresses the studious and a heart toward the grandeur of Paul's vision of God that bolsters the compassionate. If you are tired of old religious polarities that are increasingly irrelevant in a pluralist, globally-connected world, Irrevocable is your invitation to discover a paradigm-shifting vision of life with God, each other, and the entire universe.

Book Description
Dr. Jarvis kindly invited me to undertake this Foreword. According to his suggestion, I here intend to complement his work by creating a context for it. To do so, prior notice of a common misrepresentation of Royce and of his contemporary relevance seems needed, before briefly sketching his biography and interest in religion. Finally, to orient the reader to the present study, I will point out Royce's main works and the spirit of the man. In the year 2150 A. D. , what will people be saying about Harvard? If the reported prediction of a self -effacing William James comes true, the common answer will be, "Harvard? Oh, that's the place where Royce taught. " And yet, now that almost a century has passed since Royce began teaching at Harvard, most Americans do not recognize the name "Josiah Royce. " Of those who do, few know him as a significant American philosopher of community. And of these few, far fewer recall either that religious problems first drove Royce to philosophy or that he said such problems "of all human interests, deserve our best efforts and our utmost loyalty. " 1 Little wonder, then, that when Americans survey our "classic" philosophers-Peirce, James, Royce, Santayana, Dewey, Whitehead-few of them respond to Royce as the most explicitly and persistently religious philosopher of them all. Fortunately, however, popularity contests do not accurately weigh the merit of a philosopher.

Book Description
The NIV Application Commentary helps you communicate and apply biblical text effectively in today's context. This commentary shows how Esther is perfect guidance for us when we find ourselves in a situation where right and wrong are not so clearly defined and every choice we have seems to be a troubling mixture of good and bad. Esther is perfect inspiration for us when we find ourselves in situations we never sought, never planned for, and don’t think we have the gifts to succeed at. To bring the ancient messages of the Bible into today's context, each passage is treated in three sections: Original Meaning. Concise exegesis to help readers understand the original meaning of the biblical text in its historical, literary, and cultural context. Bridging Contexts. A bridge between the world of the Bible and the world of today, built by discerning what is timeless in the timely pages of the Bible. Contemporary Significance. This section identifies comparable situations to those faced in the Bible and explores relevant application of the biblical messages. The author alerts the readers of problems they may encounter when seeking to apply the passage and helps them think through the issues involved. This unique, award-winning commentary is the ideal resource for today's preachers, teachers, and serious students of the Bible, giving them the tools, ideas, and insights they need to communicate God's Word with the same powerful impact it had when it was first written.

Book Description
A LIE TOLD OFTEN BECOMES THE TRUTH In the ruined country of Magnesa, there walks the super soldier Mortem Ex. “Without death,” that’s what his name means––because he’s lived for centuries. Despised for his skin, vilified because of his creator, yet he commands humans in a war against a shared foe. That foe? Sin the Tyrant. Mortem Ex’s creator. Upon all the world, Sin inflicted a ruthless oppression. Freedom was extinct until, for all humankind, the oppressed rebelled, igniting a war that two centuries later sputters on. It’s strange, though. For all his evil, just one image of Sin is known: a savage old man with seven fingers on a single hand. It begs the question, who is Sin? Mortem Ex knows. It is a damning bit of knowledge. So damning that nobody would believe it! Because it would violate everything humanity knows about their foe. Down to the reason they fight him. To an unlucky few will the truth be exposed. Mortem Ex will lead these soldiers to Sin––and to a land they’ve never been, never knew existed. There they will discover who Sin really is. And their lives will never be the same. Fall of Sin is the series opener in the God's Crusade Timeline: a multi-book journey underscored by strong characters, timeless human themes and compelling mystery set against the backdrop of a post-apocalyptic world. For fans of authors like Frank Herbert, N.K. Jemisin, Dan Simmons and Brandon Sanderson. Begin your journey in the God's Crusade Timeline today and uncover its damning lie! Note: This is a gritty series. Thus, contains adult language and situations that some readers might find offensive and or disturbing. Series also contains occasional violence, against both human and animal.
