Book Description
"The Puerto Rico Fertility and Family Planning Assessment (PRFFPA) was a multi-purpose island-wide social, demographic, and maternal/child health study of women 15-49 years of age living in Puerto Rico in 1982. The PRFFPA was conducted by the University of Puerto Rico School of Public Health and the Puerto Rico Department of Health. The field work for the PRFFPA (preceded by 4 weeks of training) began on September 1, 1982, and ended December 15, 1982. The field work was managed by faculty/staff from the Puerto Rico School of Public Health. Technical assistance for the project was provided by the Division of Reproductive Health, Center for Health Promotion and Education, Centers for Disease Control; financial support came from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (Interagency Agreement #1-Y01-HD-2-1054-00), the Bureau of Community Health Services, and the Centers for Disease Control. Data in the PRFFPA include information on the planning status of each pregnancy event, women's intentions with regard to future births, prenatal care, birth weight, and contraceptive use by method and source at the health region level. Event-history data were collected on fertility, marriage, migration, education, and employment, and contraceptive use since 1978"--Introduction.
