Book Description
This work deals with the issue of geodetic network structures, i.e. methods of verifying the condition of existing geodetic controls in terms of their compatibility and thereby their applicability. The presented work addresses these problems only for geodetic controls on a local scale. This is a common surveying issue in a number of countries, especially where there are concerns about the quality of the structure and homogeneity of national spatial and triangulation networks. There is a need for verification, not only for the use of terrestrial methods of determination of points but also for other surveying technology, since all technology operates with a certain threshold accuracy and using physical marks located on an unstable earth surface as survey control points. Issues of the compatibility of points whose coordinates are defined as functions of time by specific equations with respect to basal positions of points at certain epochs (points in systems ITRS, ETRS and others) are not considered.

Fitting Linear Relationships
Author: R.W. Farebrother
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 146120545X
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 276
Book Description
This book describes the development of statistics, which for more than a century was called "the calculus of observations." The approach will help readers gain a clearer understanding of the historical development as well as the essential nature of some of the commonly used statistical estimation procedures. Detailed descriptions of the fitting of linear relationships by the method of least squares and the closely related least absolute deviations and minimax absolute deviations procedures are presented, along with some of the important work by Laplace, Gauss, and Adrain.

The Star of Redemption
Author: Franz Rosenzweig
Publisher: University of Notre Dame Pess
ISBN: 0268161534
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 464
Book Description
The Star of Redemption is widely recognized as a key document of modern existential thought and a significant contribution to Jewish theology in the twentieth century. An affirmation of what Rosenzweig called “the new thinking,” the work ensconces common sense in the place of abstract, conceptual philosophizing and posits the validity of the concrete, individual human being over that of “humanity” in general. Fusing philosophy and theology, it assigns both Judaism and Christianity distinct but equally important roles in the spiritual structure of the world, and finds in both biblical religions approaches toward a comprehension of reality.

The Three-Body Problem and the Equations of Dynamics
Author: Henri Poincaré
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319528998
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 265
Book Description
Here is an accurate and readable translation of a seminal article by Henri Poincaré that is a classic in the study of dynamical systems popularly called chaos theory. In an effort to understand the stability of orbits in the solar system, Poincaré applied a Hamiltonian formulation to the equations of planetary motion and studied these differential equations in the limited case of three bodies to arrive at properties of the equations’ solutions, such as orbital resonances and horseshoe orbits. Poincaré wrote for professional mathematicians and astronomers interested in celestial mechanics and differential equations. Contemporary historians of math or science and researchers in dynamical systems and planetary motion with an interest in the origin or history of their field will find his work fascinating.
