Book Description
The Discord of Gods marks the epic conclusion to Jenn Lyons's Chorus of Dragons series, closing out the saga that began with The Ruin of Kings, for fans of Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss. THEIR CONFLICT COULD END THEM ALL. Relos Var's final plans to enslave the universe are on the cusp of fruition. He believes there's only one being in existence that might be able to stop him: the demon Xaltorath. As these two masterminds circle each other, neither is paying attention to the third player on the board, Kihrin. Unfortunately, keeping himself classified in the 'pawn' category means Kihrin must pretend to be everything the prophecies threatened he'd become: the destroyer of all, the sun eater, a mindless, remorseless plague upon the land. It also means finding an excuse to not destroy the people he loves (or any of the remaining Immortals) without arousing suspicion. Kihrin's goals are complicated by the fact that not all of his 'act' is one. His intentions may be sincere, but he's still being forced to grapple with the aftereffects of the corrupted magic ritual that twisted both him and the dragons. Worse, he's now tied to a body that is the literal avatar of a star — a form that is becoming increasingly, catastrophically unstable. All of which means he's running out of time. After all, some stars fade — but others explode. At the Publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

The God Who Is
Author: Hans Schwarz
Publisher: Wipf and Stock Publishers
ISBN: 1608994341
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 301
Book Description
Who is the God in whom Christians believe? Is he just a figment of the human mind as critics of religion claimed in the nineteenth century and as crusading atheists assert again today? Since the beginnings of rational thought the brightest minds among humanity have attempted to assert that God does indeed exist. But even the so-called proofs for God's existence always started with the assumption that there is someone to prove. As soon as we move beyond that which is within space and time mere proofs or disproofs no longer suffice. Both believers and unbelievers live to a certain degree by faith. Yet religion is inextricably connected with human history. When we journey through the landscape of religion and witness its gradual unfolding we soon realize that not all religions are equal. Though they may be witnesses of the same God, the way they talk about God is so different that this not only leads to very different concepts of God but also to different approaches to life on this earth. At the end of this long journey we finally arrive at the Judeo-Christian tradition which witnesses to the God in whom Christians believe. This book seeks to show how this belief matured and what difference this belief still makes today.

God and the Gun
Author: Martin Dillon
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1136680608
Category : Political Science
Languages : en
Pages : 264
Book Description
In this astonishing and at times terrifying book, acclaimed writer and political commentator Martin Dillon examines for the first time the true role of religion in the conflict in Northern Ireland. He interviewed those directly involved--terrorists like Kenny McClinton and Billy Wright and churchmen like Father Pat Buckley--finding that the terrorists were more forthcoming than the priests and ministers. Dillon charts the history of the paramilitary forces on both sides and exposes the shocking covert role of British intelligence. He finds that, ultimately, both the church and government have failed their communities, allowing men and women of violence to fill a vacuum with bigotry and violence.

The Divide of God and Himself Vs. the Divide of Mankind and Himself
Author: Carolyn Faulkner
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1796027820
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 40
Book Description
I asked our Heavenly Father a question after following, of course, the proper procedure! And as I read, I began to understand with the help of a program called The Shepherd’s Chapel, from the father and son pastors Arnold and Dennis Murray! They would leave out all that distraction and would simply teach you the words of the Bible, showing you the Hebrew/Arabic and the Greek scriptures in which our Heavenly Father’s Words are written on! And of course, there were other literature I purchased in order to back up what they said of those words that confused me. The hardest for me was Genesis! Just that first and second sentence got me! Not that the whole thing did not take a whole lot of thought! I mean, he said that he created it. And in others places, you read that he said we all sang at “the majesty of it,” so I needed to know. For a lot of reasons, I’m not digging in you, so I will leave it at that! And just like he said in the Bible, “Ask and you shall receive,” and that is what I got! Because when you stop and think about it, people, for the most part, are not all so bad. And I needed to know that “what the beef” was concerning God and Satan! And I really do believe that that is what happened and how we came to be here in these states of death. I just want to plant this seed, and I am truly hoping that it hits the nail on the head for a lot of folks who are wondering if the Most High stumbled across the Earth then fixed it up or if he created the whole shebang at once or what.

Heidegger’s Black Notebooks and the Future of Theology
Author: Mårten Björk
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319649272
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 326
Book Description
This book probes the relationship between Martin Heidegger and theology in light of the discovery of his Black Notebooks, which reveal that his privately held Antisemitism and anti-Christian sentiments were profoundly intertwined with his philosophical ideas. Heidegger himself was deeply influenced by both Catholic and Protestant theology. This prompts the question as to what extent Christian anti-Jewish motifs shaped Heidegger’s own thinking in the first place. A second question concerns modern theology’s intellectual indebtedness to Heidegger. In this volume, an array of renowned Heidegger scholars – both philosophers and theologians –investigate Heidegger’s animosity toward the biblical legacy in both its Jewish and Christian interpretations, and what it means for the future task and identity of theology.

Now Lord Meren, the confidential agent who protects the boy king, must struggle to uncover Tutankhamun’s most threatening enemies, some within the court at Thebes . . . “Robinson knowledgeably instructs readers in the cultural and political life of a fascinating period in history while entertaining us with a puzzling plot, accessible characters, and the domestic details of their daily lives.” —Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine “Delightful . . . Robinson makes ancient Thebes come alive as she describes the personalities, clothing, golden jewelry, the intrigue, and the smells of the desert, the terrors of a hippo hunt.” —San Francisco Examiner & Chronicle “A compelling narrative comprised of vividly depicted background and characters and a well-plotted mystery.” —Publishers Weekly, starred review “Ms. Robinson is an archeologist by training and a storyteller by inclination.
