Book Description
R. Andrew Chesnut offers a fascinating portrayal of Santa Muerte, a skeleton saint whose cult has attracted millions of devotees over the past decade. Although condemned by mainstream churches, this folk saint's supernatural powers appeal to millions of Latin Americans and immigrants in the U.S. Devotees believe the Bony Lady (as she is affectionately called) to be the fastest and most effective miracle worker, and as such, her statuettes and paraphernalia now outsell those of the Virgin of Guadalupe and Saint Jude, two other giants of Mexican religiosity. In particular, Chesnut shows Santa Muerte has become the patron saint of drug traffickers, playing an important role as protector of peddlers of crystal meth and marijuana; DEA agents and Mexican police often find her altars in the safe houses of drug smugglers. Yet Saint Death plays other important roles: she is a supernatural healer, love doctor, money-maker, lawyer, and angel of death. She has become without doubt one of the most popular and powerful saints on both the Mexican and American religious landscapes.

Book Description
Poetry. Jewish Studies. Philip Terman's latest poetry collection, THIS CRAZY DEVOTION, begins appropriately enough with "Tormented Meshuggenehs," "the crazy sages... / who dervished across the hayfields / and paused to yawp a parable to the cows about the seven beggars..." This passage announces much about the poetry that follows: that its craziness indeed is of the order of devotion in the spiritual sense, rooted in Judaism; and also that it often takes place in bucolic surroundings, rooted in the land. And why is this a little surprising, this conjunction of Jewish life and rural setting? For Terman they are seamless and sacred, and by portraying his Jewishness as woven through a life and landscape familiar to many (non-Jewish) readers, he dispels stereotypes and creates a community of mutual recognition and understanding. That would be virtue enough to applaud this collection, but it offers many other pleasures. "I am talking about this world, there is no other," he declares in the long and lovely meditative "Garden Chronicle" that forms the final section of the book. Such a world it is, full of all of the things to which he is crazily devoted, all of the things he writes about with such acuity and tenderness in these poems: heritage and faith, social justice, poetry, and even (in the title poem) almost meeting Bob Dylan--but foremost, his family and nature, both of which sustain him. He communes with ancestors, a grandfather he was too young to remember, who must have sung to him in Yiddish (and who, he supposes, just might have posed for Chagall). He imagines the radio interview his father might have given, replete with Borscht Belt humor, and recalls going for bagels with "the schlemiel... / who dated your sister-in-law / after your brother died." He devotes the second section, "Of Longing and Chutzpah," to memories of his mother, and in one of the most humorous and poignant moments recalls how in childhood his mother cut his hair to save money, an act Terman likens to "sculpting" him into all the things she might have wished him to be, "the boy she wants to be a mensch." (Based on the accounting he gives here, she succeeded. She also carved out a considerable poet.) Most of all, he writes of "The love of the long married," of children "at the kitchen table / doing homework," waiting on a school bus which arrives bearing all the hopes and happiness in the world. He gives the last word to the daughter whose question "After Later?" signifies "no set time, farther than the horizon, / on top of the sky, around the bend, outside this moment we're in" when, perhaps "all those things they said would happen / must surely have occurred." Such a lovely description of faith, so worthy of devotion.

I believe there is a great need in the whole world for the correct interpretation of the Holy Quran and Hadith to be written in English. Currently, there is a great misunderstanding about Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims globally. The misunderstanding of the meaning of the Holy Quran and Hadith among Muslims will lead to the wrong practice of Islam which leads to the wrong actions of Muslims. The wrong actions of Muslims will lead to misunderstandings about Islam among Muslims and non-Muslims. The wrong actions of the Muslims have led to many miseries and wars among Muslims. The wrong actions of Muslims have also led to many wars and clashes between Muslims and non-Muslims. In order to avoid miseries, wars and clashes from taking place between the whole mankind in the whole world, the whole mankind in the whole world need to understand the true teaching of Islam. There is no other way for the whole mankind to understand the true teaching of Islam unless the whole mankind is able to read and understand the correct interpretation of the Holy Quran and Hadith. With the grace of Allah, I have completed the interpretation of the Holy Quran with 84 books, and Hadith with 7 books. The series of the interpretation of the hadith consist of 7 books that are Virtues of Tabligh or Dakwah, Virtues of Solat, Virtues of Solat Tahajud, Virtues of The Holy Quran, Virtues of Charity, Virtues of Ramadhan and Virtues of Pilgrimage. Among all the 7 above orders of Allah, the first 5 books focus on the order of Allah that should be done daily, fasting should be done in the month of Ramadhan every year and pilgrimige to Mekah should be done once in a lifetime for those who are able to do it financially, healthy and safely and all these orders are to be done in the way of Prophet Muhammad saw and with the intention to please Allah. Besides the 84 books on the interpretation of the Holy Quran, these 7 books of Hadith should be read daily in every mosque and in every house in the whole entire world in order to have the correct mindset on the orders of Allah, and when the mankind will practice all the orders of Allah what has been mentioned in the Holy Quran and Hadith in the way shown by Prophet Muhammad saw and with the intention to please Allah, only then the entire mankind will have the correct belief in Allah and in the orders of Allah. When the entire mankind have the correct belief and mindset towards Allah and the orders of Allah, only then the entire mankind will have the correct actions or deeds. When the entire mankind will have the correct deeds only then the entire mankind in this world will be able to live with peace and happiness in this world and the hereafter. Prof. Nasoha Bin Saabin

Book Description
The Doors that God Opens tells the story of a woman, who from at birth displayed resilience, strength, and determination. However, she didn’t do it by herself, even though she didn’t know it yet, God was truly her compass and guide. She had the unconditional love not only from God but from her mother along with the faith and prayers of her grandmother enabling her to learn, develop, and apply these traits to overcome so many obstacles and adversities. Despite being abused as a baby, getting pregnant at 16, and losing her best friend, Dr. Small didn’t let that become her story. She used her the support system, on earth and in heaven and gave her life to Christ and let God guide her life. She also used her resilience, strength, and determination with all the lessons she learned along the way from her family, the military, and more to open the doors that God had for her and truly live the life that God planned for her bringing her to places that she couldn’t even dream of as a child. No matter where or how you start if you can use resilience, strength, determination, and most importantly God, then there is no limit to where you can go.

Book Description
Gray focuses on the social, administrative, political, and spiritual dimensions of the lives of three Congrégation superiors - Marie Barbier, Marie-Josèphe Maugue-Garreau, and Marie Raizenne. By exploring the implications of the hierarchies of power within the convent and providing a thorough analysis of the convent's relationship with the social, religious, and governmental structures that surrounded it - taking into account both medieval and Catholic Reformation Europe and seventeenth- and eighteenth-century Canada - Gray reveals the paradoxes inherent in the position of a female superior within the male-dominated sphere of both the church and the larger secular community.
