Since 1988, Asha has developed a strong track record in improving the lives of the urban poor and as a result, has won the respect and support of politicians in India and around the world. Asha believes that the key to tackling the poverty cycle lies in educated, healthy, empowered individuals who can transcend their personal circumstances and transform their own lives, their families and ultimately their communities. They currently work with around 900,000 people in more than 90 of Delhi's slum colonies. Asha were not involved in the writing of this book, or the design of the illustrations.
