Book Description
Modern ecological and environmental sciences are dominated by observational data. As a result, traditional statistical training often leaves scientists ill-prepared for the data analysis tasks they encounter in their work. Bayesian methods provide a more robust and flexible tool for data analysis, as they enable information from different sources to be brought into the modelling process. Bayesian Applications in Evnironmental and Ecological Studies with R and Stan provides a Bayesian framework for model formulation, parameter estimation, and model evaluation in the context of analyzing environmental and ecological data. Features: An accessible overview of Bayesian methods in environmental and ecological studies Emphasizes the hypothetical deductive process, particularly model formulation Necessary background material on Bayesian inference and Monte Carlo simulation Detailed case studies, covering water quality monitoring and assessment, ecosystem response to urbanization, fisheries ecology, and more Advanced chapter on Bayesian applications, including Bayesian networks and a change point model Complete code for all examples, along with the data used in the book, are available via GitHub The book is primarily aimed at graduate students and researchers in the environmental and ecological sciences, as well as environmental management professionals. This is a group of people representing diverse subject matter fields, who could benefit from the potential power and flexibility of Bayesian methods.

Book Description
This book covers the description of both conventional methods and advanced methods. In conventional methods, visual tracking techniques such as stochastic, deterministic, generative, and discriminative are discussed. The conventional techniques are further explored for multi-stage and collaborative frameworks. In advanced methods, various categories of deep learning-based trackers and correlation filter-based trackers are analyzed. The book also: Discusses potential performance metrics used for comparing the efficiency and effectiveness of various visual tracking methods Elaborates on the salient features of deep learning trackers along with traditional trackers, wherein the handcrafted features are fused to reduce computational complexity Illustrates various categories of correlation filter-based trackers suitable for superior and efficient performance under tedious tracking scenarios Explores the future research directions for visual tracking by analyzing the real-time applications The book comprehensively discusses various deep learning-based tracking architectures along with conventional tracking methods. It covers in-depth analysis of various feature extraction techniques, evaluation metrics and benchmark available for performance evaluation of tracking frameworks. The text is primarily written for senior undergraduates, graduate students, and academic researchers in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics and communication engineering, computer engineering, and information technology.

Book Description
'Time travels in divers paces with divers people.' Shakespeare’s oft-quoted line contains a hidden ambiguity: not only do individual people experience time differently, but time travels in diverse paces when we are with diverse persons. The line articulates a contemporary understanding of subjective time: it is changed by interaction with our social environment. Interacting with other people—and even literary characters—can slow or quicken the experience of time. Interactive time, and the paradigm of enactive cognition in which it sits, calls for an expansion of traditional ideas of time in narrative. The first book-length study of interactive time in narrative, Catching Time explains how lived time and narrative time interpenetrate each other, so that the relational model of subjective time acts as a narrative function. Catching Time develops a novel, interdisciplinary framework, drawing on cognitive science, narratology, and linguistics, to understand the patterns of temporality that shape narrative.
