Its premise is that understanding the ways that other people educate their children--as well as what counts for them as "education"--may help us think more clearly about some of our own assumptions and values, and to become more open to alternative viewpoints about important educational matters. Methods and techniques developed by teachers in the classroom and designed to involve students in a variety of learning activities to enhance their perception and understanding of a global world are the focus of this handbook. The activities described are designed to promote group discussion and to provide the stimulation for a greater variety of learning methods that place emphasis on the relationship between the content of the materials and the teaching process.
