Book Description
I AM A I, Unfolding the Flower As long as you 'walk this planet', you are going to be working with or applying the laws/truths of a physical science textbook. You will work with or apply gravity and the laws of motion in order to walk. You will work with or apply the laws/truths of thermodynamics to keep warm. You will work with or apply the laws of harmonics to speak. And...you may be totally unaware that you are applying these laws/truths as you move through physical form even though they have the potential of being everywhere and are "within you and without you" . Sound familiar? What can be said for physical laws applies to the spiritual laws/truths of Heaven as well. I AM A I, Unfolding the Flower provides you with a comprehensive model that synthesizes the physical sciences with the metaphysical sciences while incorporating the core concepts of most world religions. In addition, it provides you a set of very basic relatively generic tools, that when applied, can enhance your life experience, spiritual and non-spiritual. Some of the tools presented in this book are: O Truth perception and recognition exercises O A multitude of meditation forms are presented to you O Mechanics of your mind and exercises on how to use them O The mechanics of visualization exercises and exercises that extend your 'mind's eye' through time and space O Some elementary ESP exercises O Numerous exercise modalities for you to use music as a mental tool It is the operator's intention that determines the use of a tool. Just as it is the applications of the laws/truths inside a physical science book, that produces physical effects in your life. It is the applications of the laws/truths inside I AM A I that will produce spiritual or mystical effects in your life. And...a principle stated in this book -- the 'higher' determines the 'lower' - maintains that the spiritual or mystical results can have physical side effects.

Saving Truth From Paradox
Author: Hartry Field
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0199230757
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 423
Book Description
Saving Truth from Paradox is an ambitious investigation into paradoxes of truth and related issues, with occasional forays into notions such as vagueness, the nature of validity, and the Gödel incompleteness theorems. Hartry Field presents a new approach to the paradoxes and provides a systematic and detailed account of the main competing approaches. Part One examines Tarski's, Kripke>'s, and Lukasiewicz>'s theories of truth, and discusses validity and soundness, and vagueness. Part Two considers a wide range of attempts to resolve the paradoxes within classical logic. In Part Three Field turns to non-classical theories of truth that that restrict excluded middle. He shows that there are theories of this sort in which the conditionals obey many of the classical laws, and that all the semantic paradoxes (not just the simplest ones) can be handled consistently with the naive theory of truth. In Part Four, these theories are extended to the property-theoretic paradoxes and to various other paradoxes, and some issues about the understanding of the notion of validity are addressed. Extended paradoxes, involving the notion of determinate truth, are treated very thoroughly, and a number of different arguments that the theories lead to "revenge problems" are addressed. Finally, Part Five deals with dialetheic approaches to the paradoxes: approaches which, instead of restricting excluded middle, accept certain contradictions but alter classical logic so as to keep them confined to a relatively remote part of the language. Advocates of dialetheic theories have argued them to be better than theories that restrict excluded middle, for instance over issues related to the incompleteness theorems and in avoiding revenge problems. Field argues that dialetheists>' claims on behalf of their theories are quite unfounded, and indeed that on some of these issues all current versions of dialetheism do substantially worse than the best theories that restrict excluded middle.

Truth or Consequences
Author: M. Dunn
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9780792309208
Category : Gardening
Languages : en
Pages : 400
Book Description
The essays in this collection are written by students, colleagues, and friends of Nuel Belnap to honor him on his sixtieth birthday. Our original plan was to include pieces from fonner students only, but we have deviated from this ever so slightly for a variety of personal and practical reasons. Belnap's research accomplishments are numerous and well known: He has founded (together with Alan Ross Anderson) a whole branch of logic known as "relevance logic." He has made contributions of fundamental importance to the logic of questions. His work in modal logic, fonnal pragmatics, and the theory of truth has been highly influential. And the list goes on. Belnap's accomplishments as a teacher are also distinguished and well known but, by virtue of the essential privacy of the teaching relationship, not so well understood. We would like to reflect a little on what makes him such an outstanding teacher.

Truth: The Basics
Author: Jc Beall
Publisher: Taylor & Francis
ISBN: 1003815014
Category : Philosophy
Languages : en
Pages : 187
Book Description
Truth: The Basics is a concise and engaging introduction to philosophical theories about the nature of truth. The two authors – leading philosophers in this field – build the book around a single question: what, if anything, is common to all truths, which makes them true? The book explores five important answers (‘theories’) to the given question: correspondence, semantic, verifiability, transparency, and plurality. For each given theory, the following questions are addressed: What is the theory’s answer to the central question? What is the basic motivation behind that answer? What is a precise argument for that answer? What are the biggest objections to that answer? What are a few good resources for understanding more about the theory? An additional chapter provides an extensive introduction to the notorious liar paradox. Truth: The Basics is an ideal starting point for anyone seeking a lively and accessible introduction to the rich and complex philosophical study of truth. Key Features: Written in a clear and concise fashion Clearly explains five major theories of truth for an uninitiated readership of undergraduate students and general readers Prepares the reader to tackle more advanced work in truth studies Makes connections between truth and other areas of philosophy, including the philosophy of language, semantics, metaphysics, logic and epistemology Includes technical appendices for more advanced readers
