Book Description
The main goal of this book is to systematically address the mathematical methods that are applied in the study of synchronization of infinite-dimensional evolutionary dissipative or partially dissipative systems. It bases its unique monograph presentation on both general and abstract models and covers several important classes of coupled nonlinear deterministic and stochastic PDEs which generate infinite-dimensional dissipative systems. This text, which adapts readily to advanced graduate coursework in dissipative dynamics, requires some background knowledge in evolutionary equations and introductory functional analysis as well as a basic understanding of PDEs and the theory of random processes. Suitable for researchers in synchronization theory, the book is also relevant to physicists and engineers interested in both the mathematical background and the methods for the asymptotic analysis of coupled infinite-dimensional dissipative systems that arise in continuum mechanics.

Book Description
Within this carefully presented monograph, the authors extend the universal phenomenon of synchronization from finite-dimensional dynamical systems of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) to infinite-dimensional dynamical systems of partial differential equations (PDEs). By combining synchronization with controllability, they introduce the study of synchronization to the field of control and add new perspectives to the investigation of synchronization for systems of PDEs. With a focus on synchronization for a coupled system of wave equations, the text is divided into three parts corresponding to Dirichlet, Neumann, and coupled Robin boundary controls. Each part is then subdivided into chapters detailing exact boundary synchronization and approximate boundary synchronization, respectively. The core intention is to give artificial intervention to the evolution of state variables through appropriate boundary controls for realizing the synchronization in a finite time, creating a novel viewpoint into the investigation of synchronization for systems of partial differential equations, and revealing some essentially dissimilar characteristics from systems of ordinary differential equations. Primarily aimed at researchers and graduate students of applied mathematics and applied sciences, this text will particularly appeal to those interested in applied PDEs and control theory for distributed parameter systems.

Book Description
This volume is devoted to stochastic and chaotic oscillations in dissipative systems. Chapter 1 deals with mathematical models of deterministic, discrete and distributed dynamical systems. In Chapter 2, the two basic trends of order and chaos are considered. The next three chapters describe stochasticity transformers, amplifiers and generators, turbulence, and phase portraits of steady-state motions and their bifurcations. Chapter 6 treats the topics of stochastic and chaotic attractors, and this is followed by two chapters dealing with routes to chaos and the quantitative characteristics of stochastic and chaotic motions. Finally, Chapter 9, which comprises more than one-third of the book, presents examples of systems having chaotic and stochastic motions drawn from mechanical, physical, chemical and biological systems. The book concludes with a comprehensive bibliography. For mathematicians, physicists, chemists and biologists interested in stochastic and chaotic oscillations in dynamical systems.

Book Description
This text presents new modelling and analysis techniques for the description of discrete event dynamic systems, emphasizing timing and synchronization aspects. The volume begins with a study of the areas of applications and relationships between graph theory, petri nets and algebras. It then goes on to discuss deterministic discrete event systems, stochastic discrete event systems and open problems. This class of synchronized system finds its main current industrial applications in the modelling, optimization and control of communications networks and architectures, as well as manufacturing systems.

Book Description
The theory of nonautonomous dynamical systems in both of its formulations as processes and skew product flows is developed systematically in this book. The focus is on dissipative systems and nonautonomous attractors, in particular the recently introduced concept of pullback attractors. Linearization theory, invariant manifolds, Lyapunov functions, Morse decompositions and bifurcations for nonautonomous systems and set-valued generalizations are also considered as well as applications to numerical approximations, switching systems and synchronization. Parallels with corresponding theories of control and random dynamical systems are briefly sketched. With its clear and systematic exposition, many examples and exercises, as well as its interesting applications, this book can serve as a text at the beginning graduate level. It is also useful for those who wish to begin their own independent research in this rapidly developing area.

Book Description
This book introduces a comprehensive methodology for adaptive control design of parabolic partial differential equations with unknown functional parameters, including reaction-convection-diffusion systems ubiquitous in chemical, thermal, biomedical, aerospace, and energy systems. Andrey Smyshlyaev and Miroslav Krstic develop explicit feedback laws that do not require real-time solution of Riccati or other algebraic operator-valued equations. The book emphasizes stabilization by boundary control and using boundary sensing for unstable PDE systems with an infinite relative degree. The book also presents a rich collection of methods for system identification of PDEs, methods that employ Lyapunov, passivity, observer-based, swapping-based, gradient, and least-squares tools and parameterizations, among others. Including a wealth of stimulating ideas and providing the mathematical and control-systems background needed to follow the designs and proofs, the book will be of great use to students and researchers in mathematics, engineering, and physics. It also makes a valuable supplemental text for graduate courses on distributed parameter systems and adaptive control.
