Until 1987 is was considered that stress corrosion cracking in low pressure disc keyways and bores would only affect non-reheat machines where discs are continuously wet on load, however it has been found that stress corrosion cracking and corrosion fatigue have caused problems in low pressure turbine disc keyways of fossil fired turbine generator units of the reheat type.
