Stratigraphy of the Georgetown Formation
Author: Paul W. Hughes
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Geology
Languages : en
Pages : 230
Book Description
The Georgetown Formation in Val Verde County is best exposed in the canyon walls of the Rio Grande and its tributaries - the Pecos and Devils Rivers, and generally appears as massive cliffs of limestone. Little is known beyond a general description of the formation and its areal extent. This investigation has as its objective a study of the environment of deposition, and the possibility of correlation of smaller units within the formation. In addition, a revision of the stratigraphic nomenclature is suggested for the Georgetown Formation and adjacent units.
