Book Description
This Second Edition of "Stone Projectile Points Of The Pacific Northwest" is an expansion and enhancement of the first edition, which was published in 2010. This book is the culmination of a long-time desire to find specific and detailed information which can be used to help myself and other arrowhead collectors in the northern California, northern Nevada, Oregon, Washington, Utah and Idaho areas identify the many finely made ancient and authentic types of stone arrowheads which we have found in the Pacific Northwest. It gathers descriptive information and combines this with photographs of examples of the various point types, all to help the casual collector and the serious hobbyist to understand stone projectile points which he or she sees and finds. Thus it is an arrowhead collector's guide to type identification of the stone projectile points of the Pacific Northwest. This Second Edition adds many more examples and additional types of projectile points ... arrowheads, dart points, lance points and others. Plus, I have re-worked the graphic presentation of the artifacts to make everything easier to read. The first edition was 144 pages; this Second Edition is 217 pages, full color. "Stone Projectile Points Of The Pacific Northwest / SECOND EDITION."

Book Description
Whatcha Got There? I have enjoyed finding arrowheads and other artifacts over the years. Yet, I always wondered if there was an effective way to identify the types of points which I found? Beyond guessing? After much reading, studying, contemplating and analyzing the information which is available about dart and arrow point identification, and studying the descriptions of many different types, I put together a short list of questions which enables me to compile a description of a projectile point. From this description, I can focus the answers to narrow down the type classification possibilities for any particular stone projectile point from this wonderful region. "Stone Projectile Points Of The Pacific Northwest" uses this series of questions and answers to illustrate clearly the identification process for several dozen projectile points in my collection. You can use the same process to identify most of the points you find in the Pacific Northwest. This is how "Stone Projectile Points Of The Pacific Northwest" is An Arrowhead Collector's Guide To Type Identification. Now you can know. This Third Edition, in 2021 A.D., has been expanded, with improved photographic presentations of the artifacts, and several additional types and examples for reference. Full color. 242 pages.

Book Description
The end of the Pleistocene era brought dramatic environmental changes to small bands of humans living in North America: changes that affected subsistence, mobility, demography, technology, and social relations. The transition they made from Paleoindian (Pleistocene) to Archaic (Early Holocene) societies represents the first major cultural shift that took place solely in the Americas. This event—which manifested in ways and at times much more varied than often supposed—set the stage for the unique developments of behavioral complexity that distinguish later Native American prehistoric societies. Using localized studies and broad regional syntheses, the contributors to this volume demonstrate the diversity of adaptations to the dynamic and changing environmental and cultural landscapes that occurred between the Pleistocene and early portion of the Holocene. The authors' research areas range from Northern Mexico to Alaska and across the continent to the American Northeast, synthesizing the copious available evidence from well-known and recent excavations. With its methodologically and geographically diverse approach, From the Pleistocene to the Holocene: Human Organization and Cultural Transformations in Prehistoric North America provides an overview of the present state of knowledge regarding this crucial transformative period in Native North America. It offers a large-scale synthesis of human adaptation, reflects the range of ideas and concepts in current archaeological theoretical approaches, and acts as a springboard for future explanations and models of prehistoric change.

Book Description
The archaeological focus on a single geographical area offers an opportunity to present projectile point typology as a microtechnology even though some of the types have widespread distributions. The area of the Middle Potomac River Valley presents a physical artefact collection for a view of prehistory. This volume, which includes several hundred images of the investigation, artefacts and archaeological research compiled and recorded from over 30 years of work in the area, includes: -an overview of the Middle Potomac River Valley archaeology including the peoples and sites; -new data and interpretations for the lithic technology of the area; and -classification and typology of artefacts including the usage of projectile point, axe, celt, drill, and knife implements. This work will be of great interest to prehistory archaeologists, especially those working in the Middle Atlantic region of the United States.
