Book Description
In recent years a number of non-linear Raman spectroscopic techniques have been substantially developed and are now proving to be powerful methods for the solution of many problems not only in spectroscopy but also in chemistry, physics and biology. These techniques include hyper Rayleigh and hyper Raman spectroscopy, coherent anti-Stokes Raman Spectroscopy (CARS), Raman Gain and In verse Raman Spectroscopy, Photoacoustic Raman Spectroscopy (PARS) and the Raman Induced Kerr Effect (RIKE). Hyper Raman spectro scopy although experimentally difficult is valuable for investi gating transitions which are not active in the infrared or in the linear Raman effect; and the other non-linear Raman effects can provide signal strength and resolution which are orders of magni tude higher than those obtainable with linear Raman spectroscopy. The thirty chapters in this book will form the basis of lectures presented at the NATO Advanced Study Institute in Bad Windsheim, F. R. Germany from August 23 - September 3, 1982.

Book Description
Stimulated Raman Scattering Microscopy: Techniques and Applications describes innovations in instrumentation, data science, chemical probe development, and various applications enabled by a state-of-the-art stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscope. Beginning by introducing the history of SRS, this book is composed of seven parts in depth including instrumentation strategies that have pushed the physical limits of SRS microscopy, vibrational probes (which increased the SRS imaging functionality), data science methods, and recent efforts in miniaturization. This rapidly growing field needs a comprehensive resource that brings together the current knowledge on the topic, and this book does just that. Researchers who need to know the requirements for all aspects of the instrumentation as well as the requirements of different imaging applications (such as different types of biological tissue) will benefit enormously from the examples of successful demonstrations of SRS imaging in the book. Led by Editor-in-Chief Ji-Xin Cheng, a pioneer in coherent Raman scattering microscopy, the editorial team has brought together various experts on each aspect of SRS imaging from around the world to provide an authoritative guide to this increasingly important imaging technique. This book is a comprehensive reference for researchers, faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and engineers. - Includes every aspect from theoretic reviews of SRS spectroscopy to innovations in instrumentation and current applications of SRS microscopy - Provides copious visual elements that illustrate key information, such as SRS images of various biological samples and instrument diagrams and schematics - Edited by leading experts of SRS microscopy, with each chapter written by experts in their given topics

Book Description
The stimulated Raman effect provides an efficient means for producing coherent optical signals throughout the visible and infrared portion of the spectrum using a single laser source as exciter and either a crystal or a cell containing a gas or liquid as the target. The Raman-shifted output retains the high-intensity well-collimated monochromatic properties of the original laser. The objectives of the research program presented in the report were to investigate those aspects of the Raman effect relevant to the possibility of constructing a tunable Raman laser in which continuous tuning over tens of angstroms could be expected.

Book Description
Delving into Infrared Spectroscopy: Principles, Advances and Applications, and with basic knowledge of IR spectroscopy, will provide the reader with a synopsis of fundamentals and groundbreaking advances in the field. Readers will see a variety of MIR applications and difficulties encountered, especially in an industrial environment. Competency in FT-IR spectroscopy in biomedical research and early-stage diagnosis of obesity is shown. Challenges associated with VIS-NIR applications are shown through application of the technique in assessing quality parameters of fruits. Moreover, IR spectroscopic studies of radiation-stimulated processes, and the influence of using IR in developing an ideal catalyst and hence an efficient catalysis process, are discussed. The impact of coupling multivariate data analysis techniques to IR is shown in almost every chapter.
