Book Description
The social and political changes of this era have created a climate change and fundamental shift in how businesses view the impact of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in the workplace. It is essential to understand how leaders make significant, sustainable changes utilizing communication abilities, envisioning, conflict management skills, and innovative DEIB initiatives. However, leaders must be careful not to rely on anecdotal evidence as it does not always reflect DEIB realities. Implementing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Management in Organizational Change Initiatives analyzes how leaders implement DEIB organizational change initiatives. It provides an interdisciplinary perspective of how issues and challenges pertaining to DEIB management affect organization performance. Covering topics such as inclusive organizational identity, socio-intercultural entrepreneurship, and supplier diversity programs, this book is an indispensable resource for business leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, academic administration, students and educators of higher education, government officials, researchers, and academicians.

Book Description
This book presents a model for examining problems of institutional change and applies it to American economic development in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The authors develop their model of institutional change. They argue that if external economic factors make an increase in income possible but not attainable within the existing institutional structure, new organizations must be developed to achieve the potential in income. Their model is designed to explain the type and timing of these necessary changes in institutional organization. Individual, voluntary cooperative, and governmental arrangements are included in the discussion, although the latter differs considerably from the first two.

Book Description
"The objective of this research was to undertake a comprehensive and systematic examination of the way agencies should be organized to successfully execute operations programs that improve travel time reliability. The following types of questions were examined at the outset of this research: How does operations fit into a transportation agency's overall program? What changes can be made in agency culture and training to promote operations? Which local and regional public agencies and private-sector organizations are essential to the various aspects of operations? Are there emerging technologies, systems, or organizational structures that can be used to advance intra-agency and interagency communications and therefore operations? The research addressed a large number of topics concerning organizational and institutional approaches that could enhance highway operations and travel time reliability. The most fruitful investigation was identification of the Capability Maturity Model, used extensively in the information technology field for organizational self-assessment and continuous improvement of quality and reliability. The researchers recognized that a version of the Capability Maturity Model could be developed and applied to highway operations and in turn travel time reliability. Elements defining different levels of maturity include culture/leadership, organization and staffing, resource allocation, and partnerships."--Publisher's description.

Book Description
In Strategic Change in Colleges and Universities, the Rowley, Lujan, and Dolence show how the strategic planning process can lead to more constructive and effective change within the college and university environment. Solidly grounded in theory, this practical book builds on the authors' experience of successfully implementing an original strategic planning approach on a variety of campuses in the United States and Canada. This powerful model works well in the wide range of higher educational settings, provides a consistent framework that unifies all levels involved, and is effective in keeping diverse groups of decision-makers focused on the most important elements of the organization's success. The authors outline, step by step, a strategic planning process that is uniquely tailored to the needs of academic settings where multiple constituencies require a more collaborative planning approach than is used in corporations. Strategic Change in Colleges and Universities is filled with illustrative examples that clearly show how the authors' strategic planning principles, which they describe as a ?strategic planning engine,? work in practice. The book also discloses practical and realistic methods of navigating the political land mines that often obstruct the development of a strategic plan and its implementation. Offering clear directions on the many components of a successful implementation strategy, the authors show how to encourage communication, gain the backing of top leaders, and develop campuswide support. This collaborative model of strategic planning which (unlike other approaches used in academe) results in rather than starts from the institution's mission statement. Each campus applies the same principles, developing its own method of planning to match its institution's particular needs and characteristics.Strategic Change in Colleges and Universities is written for those charged with strategic planning--presidents, chancellors, vice presidents, Details a strategic planning approach that has proved effective in institutions across the country. The authors address the complex nature of stakeholders and conflicting purposes in an academic setting.

Book Description
The political economic history of Latin America in the post-World War II era has largely been one of underachievement and opportunities lost. This all changed with the wave of market reforms that were implemented in the 1990s. However, the precise role of these reforms as an agent of change is still hotly debated. This in-depth analysis of the Peruvian case argues for an explanation that treats institutional innovation and state reconstruction as necessary conditions for the apparent success of the market in Latin America. Exploring how state intervention has been both the cause of Latin America's economic downfall in the 1980s and the solution to its recovery, Reinventing the State analyzes three main phases of state intervention: the developmentalism that lasted until 1982, the state in retreat of the 1980s, and the streamlined state of the 1990s. Through a comprehensive examination of the Peruvian experience, the book explains the country's impressive turnaround from the standpoint of institutional modernization and internal state reform. Written for a broad academic audience, the public-policy community, and the private sector, this book is also meant as a quick primer for any journalist, consultant, or private-sector analyst in need of an overview of the region's market-reform effort and how it has played out in Peru. Carol Wise is Associate Professor, School of International Relations, University of Southern California.
