Book Description
This 2001 Article IV Consultation highlights that the fiscal and structural reform efforts in Gabon continued during 2001 under the government’s program supported by an 18-month Stand-by Arrangement, approved on October 23, 2000. Non-oil economic activity in Gabon rose by 4 percent in 2001, following a severe contraction in 1999 and a moderate recovery in 2000. Private investment picked up as confidence strengthened further, helped by substantial repayments of government domestic debt. Services, agriculture, and wood processing were the main sectors contributing to growth.

Book Description
This 2002 Article IV Consultation highlights that the real GDP of the Netherlands is projected to rise by 1 percent in 2002, implying a return of growth to about 3 percent at an annual rate in the second half, and to rise by 3 percent in 2003. The pickup reflects an improvement in the worldwide economic climate, as well as last year’s easing of monetary conditions in the euro area. Inflation is accordingly expected to slow gradually from some 5 percent in 2001, to 3.8 percent in 2002 and 2.4 percent in 2003.

Book Description
São Tomé & Príncipe remains at high risk of debt distress, although it has received substantial debt relief. The increases in world food and fuel prices have rekindled domestic inflation pressures. Inflation has declined substantially since 2008, but remains at double-digit levels. A tightening of fiscal and monetary policies in 2008 followed by a decline in world food and oil prices helped lower year-over-year inflation from a peak of 37 percent in July 2008 to 11.5 percent in June 2010.
