Book Description
New author, E. L. Glenn, takes you on an intriguing journey through a reality that contains multiple, parallel universes. Though there are uncountable universes, there is only one Nexus Universe. The progenitor universe from which all the others have originated from. Those within the Nexus Universe have the ‘ability’ to enter any of the others. The Nexus Universe has a problem though, a man named Hessler, who embodies the ‘Antithesis’ spirit, has made it his quest to conquer not only the Nexus Universe, but the other parallel universes as well. To achieve this, Hessler has been using an army comprised of men and orcs, numbering a million. He must also attain the ‘Crystal Sword’, an incredible source of power. The ‘Crystal Sword’ had been hidden in the caverns of one of the kingdoms of the dwarves. Protecting it are wizards, men, elves and the dwarves themselves. They cannot use the ‘Sword’, only one embodied with either the ‘Antithesis’ spirit, or the ‘Sovereign’ Spirit can, and the one embodied with the ‘Sovereign’ spirit, is in another universe. They must find him in the hope of stopping Hessler. Mariah, a searcher in the caverns, has found the prophecy that will lead them to the universe that the ‘Sovereign’ is in. Taking it to the seekers, Mariah is informed that she must be the one to enter the ‘Sovereigns’ universe and bring him to them. There isn’t much time and they have no idea what the ‘Sovereign’ will be like, but he is their only hope. Hessler and his orc army, are almost upon them.

Periodization and Sovereignty
Author: Kathleen Davis
Publisher: University of Pennsylvania Press
ISBN: 0812207416
Category : History
Languages : en
Pages : 199
Book Description
Despite all recent challenges to stage-oriented histories, the idea of a division between a "medieval" and a "modern" period has survived, even flourished, in academia. Periodization and Sovereignty demonstrates that this survival is no innocent affair. By examining periodization together with the two controversial categories of feudalism and secularization, Kathleen Davis exposes the relationship between the constitution of "the Middle Ages" and the history of sovereignty, slavery, and colonialism. This book's groundbreaking investigation of feudal historiography finds that the historical formation of "feudalism" mediated the theorization of sovereignty and a social contract, even as it provided a rationale for colonialism and facilitated the disavowal of slavery. Sovereignty is also at the heart of today's often violent struggles over secular and religious politics, and Davis traces the relationship between these struggles and the narrative of "secularization," which grounds itself in a period divide between a "modern" historical consciousness and a theologically entrapped "Middle Ages" incapable of history. This alignment of sovereignty, the secular, and the conceptualization of historical time, which relies essentially upon a medieval/modern divide, both underlies and regulates today's volatile debates over world politics. The problem of defining the limits of our most fundamental political concepts cannot be extricated, Davis argues, from the periodizing operations that constituted them, and that continue today to obscure the process by which "feudalism" and "secularization" govern the politics of time.

May Freedom Sway Swing
Author: Pe Mba Ukagwu Jr.
Publisher: Dorrance Publishing
ISBN: 1636615716
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 76
Book Description
May Freedom Sway Swing By: PE MBA UKAGWU JR. May Freedom Sway Swing is a collection of poems by Ukagwu. In this book, Biafra is reborn. Of course, PE MBA UKAGWU JR. was not yet born during the Nigerian-Biafran civil war, which witnessed the deaths of over three million Igbos, neither did he witness the pogrom that preceded the war. However, he has, on countless times, been told stories of the war, the losses, the inhumanity visited upon his own people. He has also read books. . . books that dwelt on the short period between 1966 and 1969, when Biafra independence was declared to when the fighting Biafran soldiers surrendered to the British-backed Nigerian troop. Aside from the things he was told or things he read from books, it can be safely said that what has had the biggest impact upon an impressionable Ukagwu are the things he grew up to see and experience in his region, which falls under the then Biafra. As one who grew up and had his education in the South-East Nigeria, he has experienced marginalization first-hand; he has seen suppression, neglect, intimidation. He has seen winds taken from visions, dreams and aspirations, as equal opportunities are denied his people. Biafra is supposed to be God's kingdom on earth, a land of milk and honey, peopled by an uncommon kind. The author captures these and many other experiences in May Freedom Sway Swing. The overbearing slave master intent on perpetual subjugation of his slave; the fears and uncertainties of a future, the resolve of a people. . .indefatigable, undaunted, who thrive albeit laboriously. May Freedom Sway Swing shows hope, one that can never fade. The book is embellished with all the properties that make a great collection, good use of symbolism and imageries. The language is rich and sometimes esoteric; the sound rhythmic, rhyming, and mellifluous. Ukagwu is an associate member of the Academy of American Poets, and this book, May Freedom Sway Swing, truly shows why he was inducted into such a prestigious academy.
