Book Description
In a time of hardship and heartbreak, sometimes, reality just isnt enough. Slipping Reality is the story of fourteen-year-old Katelyn Emerson, who, when faced with the glaring reality of her brothers illness, rebels against the truth by slipping away into the depths of her own imagination. There, she finds the kind of support and comfort she feels she deserves. There, she does not have to feel so alone. And yet, as Katelyns grasp on reality begins to unravel, so too does the story of a girl who grew up too fast and fell apart too soon. Emily Beaver's debut novel is a coming of age story that deals with the trials of young grief, insight, and growth where it's least expected.

Reality Ends Here
Author: Alison Gaylin
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
ISBN: 1476727597
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 206
Book Description
From the Edgar-nominated author of Into the Dark comes the riveting and witty story of a teenage girl caught between her image-obsessed family—stars of a hit reality show about her sextuplet siblings—and the long-buried truth about her biological father. With a major crush on an adorable pop star, annoying younger siblings, and a mom and stepdad who are too strict, Estella Blanchard is a typical teenage girl—except that her daily struggles are plotlines on the reality show Seven Is Heaven, which relentlessly documents her life as the older half-sister of sextuplets. Estella’s an Oscar-worthy actress at hiding her true feelings from the camera. However, she can’t outrun the spotlight when she receives a Christmas present from her biological father...who died ten years ago under mysterious circumstances. Blamed for this “sick prank,” Estella is placed in an unorthodox support group for troubled child stars—including a twenty-three-year-old has-been, a backstabbing drama queen, and a super-cute (but very off-limits) boy bander. And, as weird as the group is, when a creepy paparazzo starts stalking her, claiming that her dad is actually alive, Estella's going to need their help to uncover the truth and stay alive.

A pioneering attempt to formulate an anthropological approach to consciousness, Questions of Consciousness explores the importance of the conscious self, and of the `conscious collectively', in the construction and interpretation of social relations and process. little scratch

Book Description
"Extraordinary"--THE NEW YORKER In the formally innovative tradition of Grief Is the Thing with Feathers and Ducks, Newburyport comes a dazzlingly original, shot-in-the-arm of a debut that reveals a young woman's every thought over the course of one deceptively ordinary day. She wakes up, goes to work. Watches the clock and checks her phone. But underneath this monotony there's something else going on: something under her skin. Relayed in interweaving columns that chart the feedback loop of memory, the senses, and modern distractions with wit and precision, our narrator becomes increasingly anxious as the day moves on: Is she overusing the heart emoji? Isn't drinking eight glasses of water a day supposed to fix everything? Why is the etiquette of the women's bathroom so fraught? How does she define rape? And why can't she stop scratching? Fiercely moving and slyly profound, little scratch is a defiantly playful look at how our minds function in--and survive--the darkest moments.

Book Description
Like four of my previous books, these are collected tales of the Spirits. These stories are shared with me by the Spirits to be, in turn, shared with any and all. Other than being short stories, they have no framework, no rack upon which to hang a hat. They are inter-dimensional, timeless, real and unreal. They cross the boundaries of myth, religion, history, and space. Some may seem simplistic, others convoluted; all are recorded as given to me. All are for the readers entertainment. If more is gained and judging by many responses, this is the case then, I feel, that is why they were given to me and why said reader is reading them. I think, and I hope others agree, that they can be very funny. Again, as in the previous volumes, Raven and Coyote, more often than not, take the lead; however, there are some others, herein, lending their voice. In the back of the book, a bakers dozen poems appear. I usually shy from mixing prose and poetry yet I noticed a number of the stores dealt with music and, in any event, I was led to include the poems. As in my previous books, save the first one, I have tried to illustrate the way with, what I think are, pertinent images. The world of these tales is miraculous, mysterious, wonderful, surprising, shocking, and some times confusing. It is a world that I have grown fond of and forget it may seem strange to the new reader. I suggest one just jumps in. All the stores from all the volumes stand on their own. If the reader enjoys this particular book, I recommend the others. Within, there is a story, a word, an image for everyone.
