Book Description
The unconfined Kirkwood-Cohansey aquifer system is a major source of water for coastal communities in Ocean & Monmouth Counties, N.J. If present allocations were fully utilized, average withdrawals from the system could lower groundwater levels & reduce streamflows. In order to address concern about these effects, a study described & characterized the aquifer system, its interaction with surface water, & its response to withdrawals. Steady-state & transient numerical modeling techniques were applied to compare predevelopment & recent ground-water-flow patterns & to estimate average & seasonal hydrologic effects of projected increases in groundwater withdrawals.
