The fourth chapter examines the conodont fauna in the Appalachian Basin in central Pennsylvania. The conodont species of this fauna are long-ranging, limiting their utility for global biostratigraphic correlation. Integration of strontium (87Sr/86Sr) isotope chemostratigraphy permits chronostratigraphic correlation of this fauna limiting it to the Middle/Upper Ordovician boundary interval.

Abstract: The Eramosa lithofacies were named in Ontario almost a century ago and are among the most economically significant Paleozoic sedimentary rocks in Ontario. However, the relative age, regional lithostratigraphic relationships, and depositional environments of the Eramosa are still poorly understood. The strata assigned to the Eramosa have been given formational rank, allocated as the upper member of the underlying Amabel Formation, and designated as the basal member of the overlying Guelph Formation. This research combines biostratigraphy and chemostratigraphy to generate a detailed chronostratigraphic framework for the Eramosa in southwestern Ontario.
