Coll., London Etc., Etc The necessity for a new issue Of the writer's Complete Works has induced him to take the present opportunity of adding to the new volume (with a few lyrical poems) his drama, Leo the Armenian, written some time back, but hitherto unpublished. Like its predecessor Gycia, it is taken from the fruitful dramatic field Of Byzantine story, and follows accurately, up to but not including, the final catastrophe, the historical events of a.d. 813 - 820 as they occurred. Like Gycia, too, it has failed to secure the representation on the stage for which it was written. And it seems well, therefore, that it should come before the public now as a dramatic poem, with a view to a possible change in theatrical taste.
