Long Sir, I regret being obliged by the tenor of your late publication to enter again on the discussion of those parts of General Longs military career and correspondence which formed the subject of my previous letter to you. The further considerations which I have to offer will be compressed into as short a space as possible; and, without any professions of candour, any inquiry into the motives that may have led you to continue the controversy, or any observation on the prudence of such a measure, I shall at once proceed to the refutation of those passages in your late Pamphlet which I conceive to be erroneous, and to which I shall strictly confine my attention.
