Book Description
Excerpt from Contemporary Sculpture 1961: Works by Artists Resident in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Kentucky, and Missouri In this age of painting, sculpture and sculptors are often and unfairly neglected. But being the eternal art it is sculpture stubbornly persists, and it occurred to these two museums that there would be purpose, probably merit, in seeing what sculpture is being created in this region of the country. It is hard to define the region except in terms of an old and most distinguished definition - The Northwest Territory - whose charter of civil liberties antedates the Constitution itself. Outside of these strict limits, Louis ville and St. Louis were asked to join, since a communion of geography can override map makers. And having undertaken this search the J ohn Herron Art Institute and the Cincinnati Art Museum find a more than parochial reward in seeing the excellence of their resident sculptors. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work.
