An Evaluation of an Automatic Cell Detection and Tracking Algorithm
Author: James G. Wieler
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Algorithms
Languages : en
Pages : 56
Book Description
A storm tracking algorithm designed to detect and track fine structure in digitized radar data is evaluated. These fine structures are defined by regions containing values within 3 dB of peaks in reflectivity factor. The algorithm describes storm structure and evolution by correlating these peak regions in time and space. The evaluation consists of a comparison of the algorithm output with raw data and with output from an AFGL algorithm which detects and tracks three-dimensional reflectivity weighted centroids defined by a preselected threshold. It is concluded that the algorithm cannot reliably detect and track significant structures within storms when applied to data sets with a temporal resolution of aprox. 6 min and a spatial resolution of 1.0 deg in azimuth and 0.7 deg in elevation. The significance of tracking 3 dB peaks is questioned and the implication of defining a larger peak threshold is discussed. The algorithm does track the large features of storms with results similar to the AFGL algorithm. However, it does not run in real time and is not modular, unlike the AFGL algorithm.

Principles of Nuclear Medicine
Author: Majid Assadi
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319917013
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 839
Book Description
This book is the ideal study tool for all who are preparing for national or international nuclear medicine exams and in addition represents a truly outstanding quick review resource. More than 4200 questions, with comprehensive answers, are presented in order to enable readers to assess their knowledge and identify areas of weakness that require further self-study. Informative subchapters permit exploration of specific topics in greater depth, and practice tests will familiarize readers with the process of taking multiple-choice examinations. The book covers the entire spectrum of nuclear medicine, from basic science to clinical applications for diagnosis and treatment. Individual sections focus on oncology, bone and joint disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, acute care, cardiology, neurology and psychiatry, and renal disease. Principles of Nuclear Medicine is highly recommended for those who are taking nuclear medicine or radiology board examinations or recertifying their subspecialty certificate (CAQ) in nuclear medicine. More generally, it will be an asset for all trainees and practitioners of nuclear medicine and radiology.

Pages : 1054
Book Description
This book constitutes the proceedings of the International Symposium on Neural N- works (ISNN 2004) held in Dalian, Liaoning, China duringAugust 19–21, 2004. ISNN 2004 received over 800 submissions from authors in ?ve continents (Asia, Europe, North America, South America, and Oceania), and 23 countries and regions (mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, India, Iran, Israel, Turkey, Hungary, Poland, Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, UK, USA, Canada, Mexico, - nezuela, Chile, andAustralia). Based on reviews, the Program Committee selected 329 high-quality papers for presentation at ISNN 2004 and publication in the proceedings. The papers are organized into many topical sections under 11 major categories (theo- tical analysis; learning and optimization; support vector machines; blind source sepa- tion, independentcomponentanalysis, andprincipalcomponentanalysis;clusteringand classi?cation; robotics and control; telecommunications; signal, image and time series processing; detection, diagnostics, and computer security; biomedical applications; and other applications) covering the whole spectrum of the recent neural network research and development. In addition to the numerous contributed papers, ?ve distinguished scholars were invited to give plenary speeches at ISNN 2004. ISNN 2004 was an inaugural event. It brought together a few hundred researchers, educators, scientists, andpractitionerstothebeautifulcoastalcityDalianinnortheastern China. It provided an international forum for the participants to present new results, to discuss the state of the art, and to exchange information on emerging areas and future trends of neural network research. It also created a nice opportunity for the participants to meet colleagues and make friends who share similar research interests.
