Winslow says that the Secretary of the Treasury, has instituted an investigation of the Conduct of the Marshal of this District, in consequence of some complaints exhibited against Him, in a Letter to the President. Winslow asks that Knox not tell the attorney, Mr. Davis, that he wrote or knows about the matter. Winslow hopes that Knox could perhaps mention him to fill the position of Marshal of the District.
