Book Description
With the outbreak of Gulf War hostilities a unit from 22 SAS slipped quietly over the border and into the enemy's backyard. It would be six weeks before any of the patrol again reached safety. Sabre Squadron recounts in graphic detail their scud-busting operations deep inside Iraq. They were operating alone and out of reach of reinforcements, with the threat of detection and its fatal consequences ever present. Yet their determination to wreak havoc behind enemy lines remained undimmed, culminating in an attack that decisively reconfirmed the regiment's awesome reputation. Cameron Spence, a senior NCO on the operation, takes you as close to the fighting SAS as you are ever likely to get, conveying the relentless tension, black humour and camaraderie punctuated by explosive, nerve-shredding action that characterized the mission. This is the true story of an SAS operation of breathtaking audacity and flair, carried out under unimaginable pressure, in the face of impossible odds. _____________ 'A brilliantly authentic account of war with an SAS patrol, it's a fantastic read' - ANDY MCNAB, bestselling author of Bravo Two Zero 'Tense and at times terrifying... a well told action story' - SUNDAY TELEGRAPH 'A terrific read' - THE TIMES 'Blood, guts and military macho - as authentic as anything you are likely to read' - MAIL ON SUNDAY

Book Description
This collection of squadron histories has been prepared by the USAF Historical Division to complement the Division's book, Air Force Combat Units of World War II. The 1,226 units covered by this volume are the combat (tactical) squadrons that were active between 7 December 1941 and 2 September 1945. Each squadron is traced from its beginning through 5 March 1963, the fiftieth anniversary of the organization of the 1st Aero (later Bombardment) Squadron, the first Army unit to be equipped with aircraft for tactical operations. For each squadron there is a statement of the official lineage and data on the unit's assignments, stations, aircraft and missiles, operations, service streamers, campaign participation, decorations, and emblem.

Book Description
The 16th/5th Queen's Royal Lancers have long had the reputation of being one of the most efficient, and at the same time one of the least flamboyant, of the British cavalry regiments. The regiment, as it exists today, is the product of the amalgamation after the Great War of two cavalry regiments whose combined battle honours bear witness to their distinguished services. It was first raised as the Royal Dragoons of Ireland, and more recently has returned in triumph from the Gulf War, prior to which not one member of the regiment had seen action, apart from tours in Northern Ireland. In writing this history of the regiment he once commanded, General Lunt offers evidence of the continuing value of tradition and esprit de corps on which the regimental system of the British Army has for so long been based.

Book Description
The true story of Australia's SAS and the soldier who was there from the start. Clint Palmer has spent much of his adult life in the SAS and has fought in this elite military unit as it developed from its fledgling beginnings into the highly trained, specialised fighting force it is today. He is an insider with the long view and this is his unique story of life in the SAS. As a bush kid in the Northern Territory of Australia, growing up in a one dog mining town, Palmer's best friends were mostly Aboriginal kids, and the outside world barely existed. But he always had one driving ambition - the army. Enduring the toughest of tough training, Palmer soon demonstrated his fighting capabilities and became part of the Australian SAS. So began almost thirty years of service. We go with him to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he is at the heart of some of the worst fighting in Operation Anaconda in the Shahi-Kot Valley in 2002. He lets us in on what it's like to have made well over a thousand parachute jumps, many of them in terrible conditions and into treacherous terrain which may have ended not just his career but his life. And he shares with us how this adrenalin fuelled world has become a lifelong commitment. Palmer is the man who knows the Regiment almost better than anyone, so SAS Insider really is the inside story of the SAS - and a gripping account of one Australian soldier's life at the sharp end. Robert Macklin is a well-known Australian biographer and historian with more than twenty books to his credit. His most recent books include One False Move, Dark Paradise and the bestselling SAS Sniper which he co-wrote with Rob Maylor.
