Law Enforcement Agents Can Do It All. But Forgive? John Russell is the Florida Department of Law Enforcement agent assigned to the missing Dylan Jacobs’ case. But while he’s tracking down clues in his professional life, a murderer is hot on his trail—his own flesh and blood. John’s father relentlessly seeks something John refuses to offer: forgiveness. Forced to face the source of his paralyzing fear of thunder and his stolen childhood, can John find the missing boy without his personal life completely unraveling? Ten-year-old Dylan Jacobs is missing from state care. John Russell is the team leader of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement task force trying to find him. Although the governor has declared this a top priority, all the team is turning up are corruption and crime of a different sort. Could Dylan still be alive after disappearing from the system six years ago? Meanwhile, John’s own long-buried nightmare is unearthed when a paroled killer shows up in his driveway. He struggles to leave old horrors where they belong—in the past. Determined to protect her children and help her husband, his wife, Marie, does some investigating of her own. Because she soon realizes, what you don’t know can hurt you. Join the agents of the FDLE as they seek the truth behind the crime and grapple with Truth in their personal lives. Dealing with depravity all day, every day, it doesn’t always seem like God is in control. Which just makes victory all that much sweeter when it comes. “Drawing upon his real-life experience as a police detective, Mark Mynheir has given us a realistic story and characters to care for. Mark presents us with a fresh new voice who writes from a unique perspective.” Angela Hunt, bestselling author of Unspoken “A remarkable first novel, with strong action and a solid moral. Readers will eagerly await the next installment from Mark Mynheir.” T. Davis Bunn, bestselling author “Rolling Thunder is a compelling story examining the struggles, importance, and power of forgiveness.” Bill Myers, bestselling author of Soul Tracker Story Behind the Book Mark Mynheir’s experience as a homicide detective enables him to accurately expose, from an insider’s view, the exciting world of law enforcement and crime investigation. It also sets an unassuming scene for the serious spiritual work that needs to be accomplished in Mynheir’s main character. While the story unfolds, the reality becomes clear of how many Christians welcome God’s grace and forgiveness for themselves but struggle to extend it to others. They harbor unresolved anger and resentment, often for years, against those who have hurt them. Mynheir challenges readers to identify with fictional characters and to initiate the process of forgiveness in their own lives.

Together Through Life
Author: Chris Morris
Publisher:
ISBN: 9781941519950
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
Veteran journalist and critic Chris Morris looks back at his intense half-century-long relationship with the music of Bob Dylan, viewing the role the singer-songwriter's work has played in his own life. A candid album-by-album exploration of Dylan's catalog through 2016's "Fallen Angels" examines the powerful personal impact of the musician's art. In 2013, Morris - the former music editor of The Hollywood Reporter and a longtime senior writer at Billboard - hit a psychological roadblock as he worked on his book Los Lobos: Dream in Blue (ultimately published in 2015 by the University of Texas Press). Hoping to get his writing flowing again, he turned to the music of Bob Dylan, whose album catalog had recently been collected in a boxed-set edition, and published his thoughts as posts on the blog site Tumblr. It quickly became apparent to the writer and to his readers that the posts were something more than a critical reconsideration of Dylan's music. Morris writes. "The pieces were not about Dylan and they were not about me; they were about Dylan and me. I found myself reconsidering my past through these records. Where was I when this came out? How old was I? Where was I living? Who was I with? Was I in love? Was I happy? Miserable? Crazy? Was I high? Where was I working? What was my state of mind? How did the music affect me? In some cases the pieces were coolly measured (though never impersonal); in others I found myself plunging into places within me that I hadn't visited for years. I was retrieving a portion of my life, which I had spent almost all of in the company of Bob Dylan's music." Here, Dylan's music is explored album by album, from his 1962 debut as a folksinger to his 2015-16 explorations of the Classic American songbook; the creative highs and lows of his entire 37-title discography are examined. But Morris' take on Dylan's music doesn't merely weigh the quality of the work - it reveals how a gifted artist's creations have the power to engage, incite, alter, and even rescue a listener over the course of a lifetime. Together Through Life occupies a unique space in the vast bibliography of Bob Dylan books.

The Rolling Thunder Logbook
Author: Sam Shepard
Publisher: Bobcat Books
ISBN: 0857127128
Category : Music
Languages : en
Pages : 242
Book Description
Autumn, 1975: The Rolling Thunder Revue - a rag-tag variety show, a travelling gypsy circus - swept across the Northeast US. Bob Dylan helmed the chaotic caravan, gathering a host of stars in his wake: Joan Baez, Roger McGuinn, Ramblin' Jack Elliott, T-Bone Burnett, Joni Mitchell and others. The Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright Sam Shepard was invited to write a Fellini-esque film out of the chaos. Throughout the many moods and moments of his travels he kept an impressionistic logbook of life on the road, replete with poetry, sketches and intimate accounts: This is that logbook. Updated with a myriad of candid photographs - many never before published - a foreword by T-Bone Burnett and a poetical preface from Sam Shepard, The Rolling Thunder Logbook perfectly captures the camaraderie, isolation, head games and pill-popping mayhem of the tour, providing a window into Dylan's singular talent, enigmatic charisma, and vision of America. “The Rolling Thunder Revue was more fun than the law allows. By a long shot. It was a bus full of musicians and singers and painters hurtling through the dead of night, making a movie, writing songs, and playing some of the most incendiary, intense, and inspired rock ‘n’ roll, before or since.” T-Bone Burnett

Shelter From The Storm
Author: Sid Griffin
Publisher: Jawbone Press

Book Description
Shelter From The Storm tells the story of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue, the gypsy caravan troupe that lit up US stages between the fall of 1975 and the bicentennial spring that followed. In the company of Joan Baez, Roger McGuinn, Joni Mitchell, Allen Ginsberg, Ramblin' Jack Elliot, and more, Dylan reinvented the ingenuous troubadour tradition for the cynical 70s - and delivered some of the most thrilling live performances of his career along the way. Throughout this period, however, Dylan's personal life was in meltdown. His tortuous love life would be laid bare in improvised acting scenes filmed for Renaldo & Clara. The movie marked his full debut as a director and was shot as Rolling Thunder navigated between New England towns. The bafflingly edited final cut is perhaps Dylan's most enigmatic and misunderstood work. Musician and author Sid Griffin examines the genesis of Rolling Thunder, the writing and recording of the 1976 album Desire, for which several key ensemble players were first marshaled, and the influences and implications around Renaldo & Clara. In a plethora of new interviews, unique behind-the-scenes accounts, and deconstructions of tour documents such as the NBC television special Hard Rain, Griffin provides new insight into Dylan's most legendary tour and offers unprecedented analysis of the musical torrents that came pouring forth as the Thunder rolled. By the tour's conclusion, both Dylan and the wider music industry were on the verge of significant transformation.
