"The Glass Bead Game: An attempt at a biography of Magister Ludi Josef Knecht, including Knecht's writings", is the last and most extensive novel by Hermann Hesse, first published in two volumes in 1943. It is by far his longest novel. Sometimes it is translated in English as "Magister Ludi" or sometimes merely "The Glass Bead Game" (original German "Glasperlenspiel").
