Book Description
Seth Joe-Bob Dancer, gunfighter, road agent, and killer was now a rancher, devoted husband, and father of two sons, one nineteen, the other now seventeen; and they were his life! Having left who he once was far behind him, his new role in life was one of happiness and most times uneventful, that is until his eldest son was murdered in Dallas, Texas, and his youngest blamed for the crime! Dancer had changed his name before the Civil War on the day he married Laura and, together, raised two strapping sons. He had not worn his gun since wars end, had in fact not thought of his violent past, until now! He had not fired the sidearm in almost eighteen years, but now, his son was dead! He didnt know what to expect when he went to Dallas; he only knew he had to see about it! He did, however, know that his youngest son was innocent, and the only way to save him was to find the real killer. But how? Dallas was a town almost completely under the thumb of organized crime, and the law was either helpless to combat it or was on the syndicates payroll or had been blackmailed into submission. After reconstruction, the federal governments policy was not to interfere with local politics unless asked or shown proof of reasons why they should, but the people of Dallas were too afraid to ask for that help, and the syndicate bosses had possession of the proof! Seth Mabry remembered only one thing from his mothers Bible teachings, and that one thing became his religion. He believed in an eye for an eye, and if he was wronged, he would collect!

Book Description
“A Day in the Life” is a gripping, coming-of-age memoir in the same realm as “Platoon” and “Born on the Fourth of July.” The story captures snapshot events during the first 19 years of Walt Madigan’s life as he attended 12 years of Catholic school in Los Angeles; then Community College in February, 1966. He was living the “good life” in Southern California, surfing at least 3 days a week and attending college classes, when he was suddenly drafted into the US Army in August, 1966. Soon he found himself in Vietnam serving as a combat infantryman with the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). The narrative captures the terror and exhilaration, and the brutal realities of what it was like for a young man at war. It’s a story of day-by-day survival, and Private Madigan’s faith in God that ultimately guided him through the biggest test of his life: to survive as a “Boonie Rat” in the 1st Air Cav and return back to The World in one piece.

Book Description
About the Book A Day in the Life is a gripping coming-of-age memoir in the same realm as Platoon and Born on the Fourth of July. Told in snapshot scenes during his recovery, Madigan intersperses family funnies, Los Angeles surf culture, and Catholic school antics within his soul-baring tale of day-to-day survival. Ultimately, Madigan relies on his own grit and faith in God to guide him through his perilous journey and return to The World in one piece. About the Author Walt Madigan was born in Los Angeles, California, in May 1947, the sixth of eight children brought into the world by Nellie Madigan. He attended Catholic schools through grade twelve and was drafted into the United States Army in 1966. He served as a combat infantryman in Vietnam, was wounded twice, and finished his second year in the Army as a Drill Sergeant at Fort Ord in Monterey, CA. He received an honorable discharge in August 1968. After earning a degree in Behavioral Sciences from San Jose State University (1972) and moving to Alaska where he learned the flooring trade, he opened his own business, North Shore Flooring, first in North Lake Tahoe, and then in Kings Beach, CA. He specialized in antique, vintage, and reclaimed hardwoods; fine carpeting; and luxury vinyl plank until his retirement in 2019. He lives in Arroyo Grande on the Central California Coast. His days are now filled with writing exercises, pickleball, kayaking on the ocean, and day hikes in Big Sur.
