Book Description
Are Canadians becoming less religious? After playing a central role in our lives for nearly a century, religion did seem to be losing its salience in Canada. Many observers saw this trend as inevitable, reflecting secularization patterns seen elsewhere in the Western world. But there is more to the story. Reginald Bibby’s Resilient Gods takes an in-depth look at the religious landscape in Canada today. Pulling together extensive data, he finds that a solid core of some 30 percent continue to embrace religion, while a similar proportion is rejecting it. The remaining 40 percent are somewhere in the middle. The picture that emerges is not one of religious decline but rather of religious polarization, with the numbers of “pro-religious,” “no religious,” and “low religious” in flux. Such proclivities are influenced by social and cultural factors, one being increased immigration, which is ensuring the viability of a pro-religious core. The gods are here to stay, Bibby argues, but so what? Using the most current information available, including unique national survey data, he explores the implications of pro-religious, no-religious, and low-religious choices for personal and social well-being, spirituality, and attitudes towards death. The questions he asks are compelling and the answers thought-provoking whether one embraces the gods or not.

Book Description
Resilience God Style derives its primary content from Resilient Warriors, published in 2011. Since that time, the Resilient Warriors content (and the associated Resilient Warriors Advanced Study Guide) has proven relevant and popular across a wide range of venues, particularly as the primary texts for thousands of resilience students in psychology and counseling courses at Liberty University. Resilient Warriors content, now rebranded as "Resilience God Style," has also fueled hundreds of faith-based resilience presentations, training seminars, conferences, and small group studies. The Resilience God Style book has a companion Resilience God Style Study Guide for personal and small group use, helping one personalize applications of the content. As well, this Resilience God Style book content is further amplified in the Resilience God Style Video Series, a nine-week study program for churches, small groups, and other organizations. Finally, the Resilience God Style Training Game is available as a fun, dynamic, and educational faith-based board game for home schoolers, Christian schools, and multi-generational family use. We use the term resilience to describe the process of bouncing back, as well as "upstream" actions to prepare for the "storms of life" and to weather these storms "until the destruction passes by¿" (Psalm 57:1b) This resilience is a critical life skill for all of us, recognizing that adversity is an enduring reality and part of the "human condition." Resilience God Style uses Biblical truth as the primary source of enduring resilience principles and makes them available to "warriors" in every endeavor of life.

Book Description
In our Western, post-Christendom society, much of Christianity's cultural power, privilege, and influence has eroded. But all is not lost, says bestselling author Gerald Sittser. Although the church is concerned and sobered by this cultural shift, it is also curious and teachable. Sittser shows how the early church offers wisdom for responding creatively to the West's increasing secularization. The early Christian movement was surprisingly influential and successful in the Roman world, and so different from its two main rivals--traditional religion and Judaism--that Rome identified it as a "third way." Early Christians immersed themselves in the empire without significant accommodation to or isolation from the culture. They confessed Jesus as Lord and formed disciples accordingly, which helped the church grow in numbers and influence. Sittser explores how Christians today can learn from this third way and respond faithfully, creatively, and winsomely to a world that sees Christianity as largely obsolete. Each chapter introduces historical figures, ancient texts, practices, and institutions to explain and explore the third way of the Jesus movement, which, surprising everyone, changed the world.

Book Description
“This is a series of stories of what it looks like to walk with God, over the course of about a year.” So begins a remarkable narrative of one man’s journey learning to hear the voice of God. The details are intimate and personal. The invitation is for us all. What if we could hear from God . . . often? What difference would it make? We have a lot to sort through on any given day. A whole lot to navigate over the course of a week or a month. Am I in the right place? The right relationships? How am I going to come up with enough money to do the things I want to do? And what about love—is this the one? Will it last? What is causing all those fears I keep pushing down inside? Why can’t I overcome those “habits” that look more and more like addictions? Am I at the right church? Should I even go to church? What is God doing in my life? All day long we are making choices. It adds up to an enormous amount of decisions in a lifetime. How do we know what to do? We have two options. We can trudge through on our own, doing our best to figure it all out. Or, we can walk with God. As in, learn to hear his voice. Really. We can live life with God. He offers to speak to us and guide us. Every day. It is an incredible offer. To accept that offer is to enter into an adventure filled with joy and risk, transformation and breakthrough. And more clarity than we ever thought possible.
