Excerpt from Report on Insurance Business in the United States at the Eleventh Census, 1890, Vol. 2: Life Insurance The exhibit of ratios of assets and the percentages of increase or decrease of assets of these companies during the decade, presented in Table 14, Section III, shows the ratio of their net assets to their gross assets to have been on January 1, 1880, and on December 31, 1889, or a decrease in the ratio of such assets of The ratio of their miscellaneous assets to their gross assets was on January 1, 1880, and on December 31, 1889. There was therefore an increase in ratio of miscellaneous to gross assets of in the decade.
