Book Description
Christians need to be aware of the differences between Christianity and other world religions. We need tolerance and understanding as we dialogue with others about our faith. Many wonder whether this is still possible in today's world, so Passport of Faith records how one man has done it. Nachtigall visits ten countries to see how different religions have shaped their national identity, culture, and history and shares his experience of trying to tell people in these cultures about his faith in Jesus Christ.

Book Description
A provocative examination of how new realities of religion and migration are subtly challenging the very definition of what it means to be an American. Sociology professor Levitt argues that immigrants no longer trade one membership card for another, but stay close to their home countries, indelibly altering American religion and values with experiences and beliefs imported from Asia, Latin America and Africa. The book is a pointed response to Samuel Huntington's famous clash of civilisations thesis and looks at global religions' organisation for the first time.

Book Description
Jesus very presence as the New Testament age unfolded (1st century A.D.), engendered opposition, created confl ict, while ushering in grace. His ideas were considered radical. Why is this so? The NIV Archeological Study Bible (2005), NIV Student Bible, et al. and corroborating Extra-Biblical evidence provide a context for the Word view about Jesus in Biblical history, and supports aspects of the social and physical sciences in terms of cultural, socio-economic, political, historical, archeological, and philosophical (apologetics) evidence. As the pages of this book unfold, there is an internal consistency with social science and The Bible. However, where such consistency appeared to diverge, this author attempts to fi lter out the noise by applying critical thinking criteria to a Worldview that may not be consistent with the Word view. The goal of this book therefore is to provide some exposition (Greek apologia) of the Word and see how the World fi ts. Born again Christians can be credible scientists and not compromise Gods Word. Book Description
Religion has always been a fundamental force for constructing identity, from antiquity to the contemporary world. The transformation of ancient cults into faith systems, which we recognise now as major world religions, took place in the first millennium AD, in the period we call 'Late Antiquity'. Our argument is that the creative impetus for both the emergence, and much of the visual distinctiveness of the world religions came in contexts of cultural encounter. Bridging the traditional divide between classical, Asian, Islamic and Western history, this exhibition and its accompanying catalogue highlights religious and artistic creativity at points of contact and cultural borders between late antique civilisations. This catalogue features the creation of specific visual languages that belong to four major world religions: Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and Islam. The imagery still used by these belief systems today is evidence for the development of distinct religious identities in Late Antiquity. Emblematic visual forms like the figure of Buddha and Christ, or Islamic aniconism, only evolved in dialogue with a variety of coexisting visualisations of the sacred.0As late antique believers appropriated some competing models and rejected others, they created compelling and long-lived representations of faith, but also revealed their indebtedness to a multitude of contemporaneous religious ideas and images. 00Exhibition: Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, UK (19.10.2017-18.02.2018).

Book Description
When 14- and 12-year-old sisters embark on a global family adventure, they learn that surviving new cultures and customs is even scarier than surviving middle school. This TRUE, dual POV, coming-of-age journey features maps and images of people and places across the globe. "THANKS FOR RUINING MY LIFE!" Delaney's eighth-grade dreams crumble when her parents announce their "global family field trip." While her younger sister, Riley, is thrilled to ditch middle school for world school, Delaney cringes at trading parties and friends for a passport and 24/7 family time. While Riley researches bungee jumping and packing tips, Delaney must decide whether to continue the silent treatment or embrace this adventure. What about school? Forget acing science and math, the only way to pass this class is to survive: scam artists, monster cockroaches, deadly stingers, projectile vomiting, public nudity, and toilet catastrophes. And those lessons aren't in their textbooks. Each passport stamp is a real-life social studies lesson in new religions and new rules--resulting in so many awkward family moments. But when an itinerary mistake puts the family's freedom at risk, they learn the most valuable lesson of their lives. Trapped together in their parents' mid-life crisis, will the sisters survive this global adventure? And will non-stop family time turn them into friends? Or enemies?
