Excerpt from Religion on the American Frontier, 1783-1850, Vol. 3: The Congregationalists; A Collection of Source Materials As in both previous volumes I am indebted to several of my students who have been members of my seminars from 193 5 to 1938 for rendering assistance in the editing of the manuscripts appearing in this volume. Mr. Alfred T. De Groot, Winthrop S. Hudson, and Thomas P. Inabinett, mem bers of my seminar in the spring quarter of 1938; Dr. Richard D. Leonard and William A. Karraker, members of my semi nar in the autumn of 1935; and C. E. Buckingham and C. S. Hiltner, members of a previous seminar, deserve especialmention for their fine co-operation. Sidney E. Mead and Lewis K. Wheelock have worked with me as research assist ants in various tasks connected with this volume. As in the Presbyterian volume, the maps have been prepared by Mr. Eugene A. Tilleux, a former member of my seminary, but now connected with the Statistical Review Section of the Works, Progress Administration in Washington.
