Durante los ultimos cincuenta anos la psicologia se ha dedicado fundamentalmente a lo negativo y a la enfermedad mental olvidando las fortalezas y virtudes necesarias para encontrar lo que Aristoteles denomino la "buena vida" (Seligman, 2003). Esta situacion es extensiva tambien al mundo de la discapacidad en general y, de forma especifica, al campo de la discapacidad intelectual. Durante decadas el campo de trabajo con personas con discapacidad intelectual se ha centrado principalmente en las condiciones externas: condiciones de vida fisica, comportamiento adaptativo y politicas sociales, lo que ha permitido que sus indices de calidad de vida hayan aumentado de modo considerable. Sin embargo, apenas conocemos aspectos vinculados a los estados internos positivos. Por ello, este libro se centra en conocer la vertiente mas emocional y laboral de los trabajadores con discapacidad intelectual. El analisis de estos resultados nos permitira profundizar en las caracteristicas de este colectivo que desempena un puesto de trabajo asi como aportar informacion de utilidad para disenar y/o mejorar los diferentes programas y estrategias de intervencion."
