Book Description
What terms are currently up for debate in Indian society? How have their meanings changed over time? This book highlights key words for modern India in everyday usage as well as in scholarly contexts. Encompassing over 250 key words across a wide range of topics, including aesthetics and ceremony, gender, technology and economics, past memories and future imaginaries, these entries introduce some of the basic concepts that inform the 'cultural unconscious' of the Indian subcontinent in order to translate them into critical tools for literary, political, cultural and cognitive studies. Inspired by Raymond Williams' pioneering exploration of English culture and society through the study of keywords, Keywords for India brings together more than 200 leading sub-continental scholars to form a polyphonic collective. Their sustained engagement with an incredibly diverse set of words enables a fearless interrogation of the panoply, the multitude, the shape-shifter that is 'India'. Through its close investigation and unpacking of words, this book investigates the various intellectual possibilities on offer within the Indian subcontinent at the beginning of a fraught new millennium desperately in need of fresh vocabularies. In this sense, Keywords for India presents the world with many emancipatory memes from India.

Its not just the extreme differential in wages that should convince you to do business in India: Suppliers there remain committed to protecting the intellectual property rights of Western countriessomething that is sorely missing elsewhere. There are, however, challenges to doing business in India that youll need to navigate. For instance, many Indian entrepreneurs do not deliver on promised delivery dates, and delays can be frustrating. But as costs in India continue to stay low or even go downand as costs elsewhere continue to go updoing business in India makes sense. Filled with charts, statistics, comparisons with other countries, and insights on Indias culture and people, Leveraging on India is an important resource for anyone in the manufacturing business.

Book Description
Beyond Alterity contests a core tendency in postcolonial studies as well as emerging critiques of neoliberalism—to assume that nations of the Global South are categorically distinct from their counterparts in the North and that they provide an alternative, or even an antidote, to the competitive and individualistic cultures of the advanced capitalist world. Through a textured analysis of cultural production from contemporary India, Shakti Jaising argues that neoliberal capitalism has produced significant continuities in class dynamics and subjective experience across the North-South divide—continuities that are at least as worthy of our consideration as differences arising from colonialism and its aftereffects. The book engages an array of political, economic, and cultural narratives, while focusing in particular on widely circulating Indian English-language novels and their audio-visual adaptations that demonstrate the growing currency of a neoliberal script extoling values like privatization and deregulation as conduits to both individual growth and national development, as well as freedom from poverty. With their potent enactments of personal and national maturation, contemporary Indian novels and films offer striking illustrations of the imaginative means by which the neoliberal script proliferates— even as economic precarity and inequality worsen in India, much like elsewhere in the world. Whereas literary scholars tend to approach the Indian English novel as an exemplar of resistance from the formerly colonized world, Beyond Alterity contends that far from inevitably modelling resistance, this genre’s contemporary examples instead encapsulate the challenges of disentangling literature from the all-pervasive logics and narratives of neoliberal capitalism.

Book Description
On 8 November 2016, India radically changed its future course, a change that has precedent only in such momentous occasions in Indian history as the Independence (India 1.0) and economic liberalization (India 2.0). Prime Minister Modi took a decisive step to pluck the scourge of black money at its root, by demonetizing high-value currency notes, and though it caused much inconvenience the people were willing to brave it for the country. It was a resilient India's thirst for self-realization and heralded a new consciousness of the Indian people -- one that seeks political willpower and integrity. India's future has been the ground of many contentions and to date, it remains the greatest and most far-reaching political experiment in human history. From being a democracy to its aspirations of being a global powerhouse -- the world has looked on with curiosity the development of its rising billion. However, according to Arun Tiwari, many writings on India focus on its cerebral rather than identitarian aspects, and thus leave out a crucial piece in understanding India's national trajectory and future pedigree. India 3.0 is a step forward in this regard, as it is a geological exploration of the Indian mind, to know its psychology and temperament, its wounds and victories. A book of hope, India 3.0 analyses the three watersheds in Indian history -- Independence (India 1.0), liberalization (India 2.0) and Demonetization (India 3.0) -- and traces a path to India's vaunted destiny: of becoming a world leader.
