Book Description
In this paper we propose a distributed control architecture for Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) applications which allows for the dynamic integration and communication of interacting processes using intelligent control agents cooperating via a logic communication network. The type of DIS applications which we discuss include the interactive simulation initiative of the U.S. Army to create a realistic warfare training environment by using high speed communications to permit real time interaction between geographically dispersed warfare simulations with actual combat units in the field, cooperative game playing and virtual manufacturing.

Book Description
This is the book that the simulation industry is missing! This is an introduction and reference for Real-Time Distributed Simulation. Distributed Simulation is the term describing connecting people, equipment and simulators together in a synthetic environment. If you are involved with any type of simulator and want to connect it to another system, then you need to have this book. The book describes terrain in simulation, 3-D model structure, Simulator Qualification Levels, Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), High Level Architecture (HLA), Validation, Verification and Accreditation (VV&A) as well as providing a methodology and process for planning and implementing a Distributed Simulation project. The book also provides an invaluable Distributed Simulation Agreements Template. This is a very useful book for anyone involved with distributed simulation and was written by someone that has spent nearly 20 years in the industry: building simulators and connecting them to other simulators.

Book Description
This reference book documents the scientific outcome of the DIMACS/SYCON Workshop on Verification and Control of Hybrid Systems, held at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, in October 1995. A hybrid system consists of digital devices that interact with analog environments. Computer science contributes expertise on the analog aspects of this emerging field of interdisciplinary research and design. The 48 revised full papers included were strictly refereed; they present the state of the art in this dynamic field with contributions by leading experts. Also available are the predecessor volumes published in the same series as LNCS 999 and LNCS 736.

Book Description
This book documents the scientific outcome of the Third International Workshop on Hybrid Systems, held in Ithaca, NY, USA, in October 1994. It presents a selection of carefully reviewed and revised full papers chosen from the workshop contribution and is the successor to LNCS 736, the seminal "Hybrid Systems" volume edited by Grossman, Nerode, Ravn, and Rischel. Hybrid systems are models for networks of digital and continuous devices, in which digital control programs sense and supervise continuous and discrete plants governed by differential or difference equations. The investigation of hybrid systems is creating a new and fascinating discipline bridging mathematics, computer science, and control engineering.

Book Description
Simulation is a multi-disciplinary field, and significant simulation research is dispersed across multiple fields of study. Distributed computer systems, software design methods, and new simulation techniques offer synergistic multipliers when joined together in a distributed simulation. Systems of most interest to the simulation practitioner are often the most difficult to model and implement. Distributed Simulation brings together the many complex technologies for distributed simulation. There is strong emphasis on emerging simulation methodologies, including object-oriented, multilevel, and multi-resolution simulation. Finally, one concise text provides a strong foundation for the development of high fidelity simulations in heterogeneous distributed computing environments!
