Book Description
For too long now, the Qur’an and the Sunnah, great sources of strength, purity, knowledge and inspiration for the Ummah, have not been adequately tapped. Skirting their peripheries or over-dwelling on one or two of their multifarious facets and tributaries has done a disservice to the immense potential of the fountainhead, while denying the Ummah- indeed the whole world- innumerable benefits from them. Now that the Ummah is becoming increasingly aware of its own problems as well as latent powers, and yearns to revive its leading role in the forging of history and cilization, the issue of drawing on the wellspring becomes more relevant and urgent. Revisiting these two sources is no longer a scholastic, academic, nostalgic, or escapist indulgence, but a great journey of discovery that promises untold rewards. Paradoxically, the journey through the resplendent pages of the Qur’an and the Sunnah to a time and place in the past should yield a more mature awareness of the dynamics of social and historical change and a human being’s role on earth, honing and sharpening the Muslims’ capacity to deal with the demands of the present moment and the challenges of the future. Suggestions for a new reading of the Qur’an and the Sunnah have been put forward from Islamic and other angles in the recent years. In this book Dr. Al-Alwani and Dr. Khalil, two well-known Muslim thinkers, contribute their views for a proper approach to these sources from within the Islamic framework.

Book Description
The Qur’an and Sunnah are the two primary sources of Muslim faith, life, law and morality. The Qur’an is for Muslims the foundation of their faith and the Sunnah is the framework of their morality. Together they constitute the two sources of the law (Shari’ah) of God, a guide to prosperity and happiness in this life and to the bliss of the hereafter. Although the Qur’an and Sunnah are materially and formally two independent sources, they are inextricably bound in a dynamic relationship. The rulings and precepts (ahkam) of the Qur’an constitute the law (shar’) of God. They are supplemented by the precepts of the authentic Sunnah, which possess authority second only to the precepts of the Qur’an. The Qur’an commands Muslims, “Whatever the Messenger gives you, that you must take, and whatever he forbids you, you must desist therefrom....” (59:7).

Book Description
A former radical Shiite Muslim unashamedly speaks out and exposes radical fundamental beliefs in his book "Inside Islam." Reza Safa, openly talks about the spirit of Islam from an insider's point of view. Safa is well-versed in the laws and history of Islam. Radical Muslims claim to believe that the Bible is untrue, eternal life is only attained by sacrifice in a holy war and that Christians are naïve and weak in their beliefs. He explains that they seem to have a lust for martyrdom and their lives are lived in fear of their god, Allah. "Fear is the darkroom in which Satan develops his negatives," says Rafa as he tells how Islam contradicts the facts and truths of the Bible. "Inside Islam" is a magnifying glass that lets you see deep into Muslim culture and society.

Book Description
Did you know... Intermittent fasting was established in our tradition long before physicians recommended it. The companion, Zahir bin Haram struggled with body image. The Prophet (ﷺ) would build his confidence, telling him he was valued in the eyes of Allah. Islam advocates for consent to our bodies, including the right to privacy when using the bathroom, sleeping, and in seeking permission before entering a room. The Prophet (ﷺ) taught the young companion, al-Fadl, to lower his gaze out of respect for others and as a means to control sexual urges. Islam looks at entertainment as a human need. After striving for the sake of Allah, we are encouraged to take time to relax, re-energize, and have fun with permissible activities. The Prophet (ﷺ) advocated for social justice in a society that had deep practices of racism. Muslim youth today have many questions that would be unrelatable in a conventional health class and often overlooked by their parents. The Islamic Health series is the first health curriculum created specifically for Muslim youth ages nine and up. It is the first of its kind to tackle the most common health concerns by putting the Islamic way of life at the forefront of its answers and centering the Muslim narrative. What is the Islamic Health Series? Islamic Health is comprehensive health textbook series with real-life application of researched-based health skills in an Islamic framework. It includes key words, chapter activities, chapter reviews, resources, and more. Its goal is to give Muslim youth a resource to seek answers on their most common health questions, as well as provide both parents and educators a curriculum to teach it at home or in a classroom environment. Islamic Health is a two-book series. Book I (ages nine and up) is available here. Book II (ages 14 and up) will be available Fall 2021. What does Islamic Health - Book I include? Islamic Health- Book I covers the following six areas of health: REPRODUCTIVE & SEXUAL HEALTH: The physical, mental, and spiritual changes of puberty; the process of reproduction; and Islamic rulings of menstruation. PHYSICAL HEALTH: Healthy eating and exercise in light of the Quran and sunnah. SOCIAL HEALTH: Understanding disabilities; caring for orphans, those in poverty, and the environment; relationship rights between Muslims, parents and children, and with non-Muslims; and advocating for social justice and anti-racism. MENTAL & SPIRITUAL HEALTH: The influence family, peer pressure, bullying, Islamophobia, and body image have on self-esteem; the mental effects of social media and video games; and the Islamic approach to mental illness. About the Author: After graduating from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Amber Khan went on to pursue health education. She has been a Muslim youth health educator since 2010. She teaches health education at schools and community centers focusing on physical, social, mental, reproductive, and sexual health education, and is the chair of the Education Committee for the Islamic Medical Association of North America (IMANA). Dr. Khan also holds an Associates' Degree in Islamic Studies from Mishkah University, focusing her studies on aqeedah and dawah.
