Book Description
This study is on the implementation of TQM in the Malaysian Automotive Industry focusing at vendor quality management practices. It is meant to gauge how vendors are doing collectively in their quality pursuit, specifically in TQM implementation. The research methodology involved a survey using a set of established questionnaire addressed to quality personnel and other equivalent officers. The questionnaire gauged the various aspects of quality practices. The design of the questionnaire was based mainly on the seven criteria of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The layout of the study consists of four phases captured in PDCA Cycle: Plan, Do, Check, and Act. The results highlight vendor performance in seven quality criteria and nine groups of quality implementation initiatives. Some of the key findings indicate that a majority of vendors isolated ISO 9000 certification from TQM implementation. Ninety three per cent of vendors are certified with ISO 9000. Conversely, only about thirty one per cent of vendors claimed to have TQM introduced in their organization. Based on the overall results, it could be concluded that a majority of the vendors have introduced TQM in one form or the other. However, not many of them realize it because they lack the TQM understanding. Therefore, an improvement framework is suggested to improve the TQM understanding as well as other weaknesses identified in the study. The framework will also help to strengthen some of the current quality practices among vendors. The suggested improvement framework of the TQM implementation has three major segments: (1) assessment prior to an improvement exercise, (2) major elements in TQM improvement framework, and (3) assessment after an improvement exercise. SWOT analysis and PDCA cycle are two of the main elements in the suggested improvement framework.

Book Description
Today all organizations around the world are trying to optimize the business process in the global market upon continuous improvement and total quality management in order t survive in a competitive market. Since there are huge costs to implement all tools and techniques of total quality management and it is not economical for any organization to apply all. Nine Total Quality Management's Critical Techniques (TQM's CTs) have been presented to implement in automotive industry. Each technique has a special application but on the other hand, some of them can be used for an assimilation objective and also some of them can be applied for more than one objective. The main objective of this study has been based on both internal and external customer satisfaction. In order to achieve the main objective, six significant criteria as descision making parameters have been proposed. The study has ranked the TQM's CTs as alternatives regarding to each criterion through one of the best and widely used decision making methods that is called Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in ten selected Malaysia automotive companies. It has also determined an overall ranking of implementation of TQM's CTs with respect to all criteria and by considering their performance weight. The results of overall ranking of TQM's CTs are listed as follows: (1) Advanced Product Quality Planning Process (APQP); (2) Quality Function Deployment (QFD); (3) Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA); (4) Production Part Approval Process (PPAP); (5) Statistical Process Control (SPC); (6) Measurement Systems Analsysis (MSA); (7) Management and Planning (MP) tools; (8) Kaizen; (9) 5S. It has also been found the weigt of relationship of TQM's CTs. For example, FMEA and SPC, QFD and APQP, QFD and FMEA, and 5S and Kaizen have highest relationship rather than other critical techniques of TQM. Finally, an integrated implementation framework of the TQM's CTs with respect to their both relationship and performnce weight has been suggested to create awareness and to guide quality planning managers to have an effective implementetion of theses critical techniques of TQ M.

Book Description
In general, the purpose of this study is to analyze the different between Quality Management System (QMS) which are implemented in Automotive Suppliers (Proton). There are three difference system of QMS were practice by Automotive Suppliers, it is IS09000:2000, QS9000 and TS16949. There are three purposes in these studies. 1st, analyze which QMS more suitable to be implementing to automotive supplier. Second, determine the differences in each three system. Third, determine methods of implementation of QMS which are practiced at supplier in order to produce quality product. In this study, the author to analyzed in five categories and first are differences of clauses in three difference QMS. Second, to prepared question form related with implementation of QMS at suppliers. Third, studied the implementation of the document's procedure for each automotive supplier. Forth, to determined the control method in management and operation with combination of QMS, management process and efficiency measurement. Firth, to determine benefits found after implement the QMS. There are fiv1 things found in these studies. First, proven that in each three QMS found differences in clauses. Second, found that the TS 16949 is the most suitable system practiced in automotive industries. Third, found that similarity in documented procedure used at suppliers. Fourth, there are benefits to supplier, when they use QMS in their company. Fourth, found that overall suppliers used Key Performance Indicator (KP1) to control their organization, management and operation. From the study, the author was proposed two things have to develop. First, to construct flow chart for each documents procedure were use at suppliers. Seconds, to construct combination model, between QMS and KPL.

Book Description
This book relates research being implemented in three main research areas: secure connectivity and intelligent systems, real-time analytics and manufacturing knowledge and virtual manufacturing. Manufacturing SMEs and MNCs want to see how Industry 4.0 is implemented. On the other hand, groundbreaking research on this topic is constantly growing. For the aforesaid reason, the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), has created the model factory initiative. In the model factory, manufacturers, technology providers and the broader industry can (i) learn how I4.0 technologies are implemented on real-world manufacturing use-cases, (ii) test process improvements enabled by such technologies at the model factory facility, without disrupting their own operations, (iii) co-develop technology solutions and (iv) support the adoption of solutions at their everyday industrial operation. The book constitutes a clear base ground not only for inspiration of researchers, but also for companies who will want to adopt smart manufacturing approaches coming from Industry 4.0 in their pathway to digitization.
