The octavo edition was reprinted various times, and this set is comprised of 99 plates in two volumes, as opposed to 120 plates contained in the original three volume octavo edition. Sometimes sets of this edition contain a combination of handcolored lithographs and chromolithographs, perhaps because of broken lithographic stones resulting from overuse.
