The entitled book "Freshwater Fish Parasites" spread over 10 chapters, with complete pictorial guide of different fresh water fish parasites all over the country. The detail etiology, clinical signs, prophylaxis and treatment of parasitic diseases have been discussed in a simplified manner for easy understanding of students, researchers, teachers, scientists and farmers in the field .The book covers most interesting chapters and will guide to identify and manage parasitic diseases including some aspects of latest developments in fish parasitological research. A comprehensive approach has been made to cover all the progressive areas of parasitic disease management starting from identification of the parasites, basic status of diseases towards various approaches to diagnose, prevent and control disease conditions. The parasitic problems of different fishes, like indigenous fishes, exotic fishes of commercial importance, sport fishes and ornamental fishes have been addressed to give a complete parasitic disease profile on total fishery. The behavior of the hosts, interrelationship of soil and water with parasitized hosts, and mechanism of parasitic attachment are important aspects of the concerned book.

Book Description
Good fish health and welfare are essential components of sustainable aquaculture and in this regard, fish parasites constitute a major constraint to production. The aquaculture industries of areas affected by various disease outbreaks have suffered considerably from the impacts of marine and freshwater parasites. It is therefore fundamentally important to take steps to prevent parasite infection, as well as to properly identify, monitor and treat outbreaks when they occur. ParaFishControl, an EU-funded project involving industry, academic and government partners drawn from across Europe, whose work has led to this book, is dedicated to effectively understanding and controlling a diverse range of fish parasites in order to promote the sustainability and competitiveness of the European aquaculture industry. Fish Parasites contains detailed outlines of the most up to date protocols for parasite isolation, culture and transmission, as well as detailed procedures for reproducing parasitic infections in a laboratory environment. Protocols for tasks such as monitoring parasitic infection, isolating parasites and preparing parasite material are explained in detail. In addition, an introduction is provided to the biology and host interactions of each parasite discussed. Fish Parasites provides an essential guide for those who are currently researching fish-parasite relations, as well as for those who may study fish health and welfare more generally or otherwise have broader interests in fish parasites. 5m Books

Excerpt from Fish Parasites Collected at Woods Hole in 1898 References to my former papers have been inserted in Part I in all cases where forms were identified as belonging to species therein mentioned or described. As a rule, references are made only to record of latest date, and are not repeated under the same host, but are given under the first date on which the species concerning which reference is made was found. Book Description
Excerpt from Fish Diseases If the mucous membrane lining the mouth be reckoned with the integument, of which it really is a part, it may be said that the affection under discussion is strictly a cutaneous disease, comparable to ringworm among men. However badly a fish may have been diseased, there is no trace of the affection in the abdominal cavity or in any of the viscera, and the muscles and deep-seated bones appear healthy. Some say that the liver is enlarged and soft, but I have seen the liver quite healthy in very severe cases. The fish appear to suffer considerable irritation from the disease; but how far this is a primary symptom, and how far it results from the entanglement of multitudes of minute grains of sand in the fluffy coat of the diseased skin, is uncertain. Badly diseased fish in aquaria, the water of which contains 'no suspended particles of Sand, do not show signs of any particular irritation. Book Description
Excerpt from Common Parasites of Fishes Fish taken commercially, for sport, or raised by fish fanciers are sometimes found to be abnormal due to injury, deformity, disease, or the presence of parasites. This paper is concerned with common parasites of fishes and their recognition. Life cycles and biology are mentioned briefly, and references to more detailed literature are included. Parasites may be defined as animals that live on or in another animal, the host, at the expense of that animal. There are many kinds of parasites which may be found on the surfaces of fish, including the gills, as well as in the flesh and internal organs (fig. Those on the surface are known as external parasites, and those that live inside are called internal parasites. Several types may occur together in a single fish. Some parasites are fairly large (up to several inches) and can be seen easily, but many are microscopic. Scientists who work on parasites describe the organisms, study the life cycles (some have several intermediate hosts), survey the kinds and numbers found in fish, study damage done to fish, and attempt to control them. Re search is carried on by the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service and some colleges and universities. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
