Pesquisa realizada em unidades do Hospital de Clínicas da Universidade Federal do Paraná nas quais se presta assistência de enfermagem a crianças sadias e doentes, caracterizando-se como um "Estudo de Caso". Seu enfoque principal é a "Prescriçãp de Enfermagem", uma das atribuições privativas do enfermeiro, aprovada pela Lei nð7498/86. Os objetivos do estudo foram: a descrição do espaço físico e ambiente; os recursos humanos e materiais; a dinâmica estrutural da elaboração das "Prescrições de Enfermagem", a verificação de sua efetivação na prática em relação ao ensino ministrado nos cursos de enfermagem e a análise dos aspectos qualitativos do conteúdo das "Prescrições de Enfemagem". A população foi constituída por trinta e uma enfermeiras que atuam em oito unidades de estudo, e por 221 prontuários das crianças internadas ou que frequentaram o Ambulatório de Puericultura no período de 15 de dezembro de 1992 a 15 de janeiro de 1993. Empregando a técnica da observação livre, a aplicação dos questionários e a análise de conteúdo, procurou-se desvelar o fenômeno "Prescrição de Enfermagem", tal como ele se apresenta na realidade estudada, indo do seu abstrato para o concreto, da exterioridade à interioridade, da aparência à essência do fenômeno. O material obtido foi categorizado e apresentado em cinco quadros e onze tabelas com a finalidade de quantificar, qualificar, descrever e explicar o fenômeno "Prescrição de Enferma.
