Nasa Systems Engineering Handbook - Nasa Sp-2016-6105 Rev2
Author: National Aeronautics and Space Administration
Publisher: Createspace Independent Publishing Platform
ISBN: 9781979381475
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 298
Book Description
This handbook, "NASA Systems Engineering Handbook," is intended to provide general guidance and information on systems engineering that will be useful to the NASA community. It provides a generic description of Systems Engineering (SE) as it should be applied throughout NASA. A goal of the handbook is to increase awareness and consis¬tency across the Agency and advance the practice of SE. This handbook provides perspectives relevant to NASA and data particular to NASA. This handbook describes systems engineering best practices that should be incorporated in the development and implementation of large and small NASA programs and projects. The engineering of NASA systems requires a systematic and disciplined set of processes that are applied recursively and iteratively for the design, development, operation, maintenance, and closeout of systems throughout the life cycle of the programs and projects. The scope of this handbook includes systems engineering functions regardless of whether they are performed by a manager or an engineer, in-house or by a contractor.

Applications of Acoustics in Advanced Energy Systems
Author: American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Winter Annual Meeting
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Acoustical engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 0
Book Description
A review of work on acoustically modified energy conversion process is presented. Discussion of basic concepts is followed by a review of fundamental tests of acoustically modified coal combustion, pulsating coal combustion, and gasification. Work to date suggests that acoustic energy may improve the combustion intensity of coal-fired systems, but it accompanied by uncertain effects on combustion efficiency and pollutant formation. The potential for acoustic agglomeration of coal fly ash is discussed. If successful, fly ash agglomeration would result in easier cyclone separation of ash particulate. Recent work has demonstrated ash agglomeration at conditions similar to those expected in proposed coal-fired gas turbine systems. While acoustic energy for the agglomeration process may come from sirens, unsteady combustion is also discussed as an acoustic source. Several novel applications for pulsating fluid beds, fuel injectors, and sulfur sorbent enhancement are described.
