Indian Constitution is the supreme law of the land. It was prepared by the constituent assembly and it came into force on 26 January 1950. For strengthening the unity and integrity of the Country, Indian Constitution provides a special kind of federation. Indian Constitution is unique in its nature having the features of both federal and unitary. Dr. B.R. Ambedkar viewed about the nature of the Constitution that "Indian Constitution could be both federal and unitary. In normal times, it could work as a Federal Constitution and at the time of war or economic and political crisis, it will work as a unitary one." Under the constitution of India, governor plays the role of executive head of the state. He is appointed by the President on the recommendations of the Central Government. Constitution of India gives wide powers in the hands of governor. Governor plays an important role under Article 356 of the Constitution of India. Governor generally remains in controversy by the use of this article.
