L'institutionnalisation et l'organisation d'un ordre juridique sur un mode représentatif impliquent un processus de différenciation fonctionnelle entre représentés et représentants permettant la réduction de la multiplicité à l'unité. La personne morale apparaît comme le terme réunificateur de tout système representative. Dans l'ordre international, ce processus est perturbé par la présence, dans les organs intergouvernementaux, de représentants d'Etat qui sont autant d'organes des Etats membres, présence prolongée par le consentement aux actes adoptés en leur sein. Quel en est donc le sujet d'imputation : l'organisation ou ses membres ? Une théorie de l'acte doit être développée au coeur de la théorie de l'organe pour démontrer que l'organisation internationale est la personnification juridique d'une collectivité d'Etats dotée d'un système représentatif, et n'est que cela. La qualité de partie à un traité constitutif et de membre d'une organisation internationale ne prive l'Etat d'aucun des attributs de la souveraineté dans l'ordre international. Au contraire, la faculté d'investir un sujet de droit de compétences nouvelles est précisément un attribut de la souveraineté : l'organisation est tout entière une création des Etats membres. Leur souveraineté n'inhibe pas le processus de personnification de l'organisation qui, en retour, ne la confisque pas : la souveraineté et la relativité des rapports juridiques demeurent les principes régulateurs de l'ordre international.

This book is about language in STEM research and about how it is thought about: as something that somehow refers to something else not directly accessible, often «meaning», «mental representation», or «conception». Strategies of Deconstruction was first published in 1991. Minnesota Archive Editions uses digital technology to make long-unavailable books once again accessible, and are published unaltered from the original University of Minnesota Press editions. In the past two decades, the "movement" of deconstruction has bad tremendous impact on a number of academic, disciplines in the United States. However, its force has been rather limited in the field of philosophy, despite the fact that in Europe the practice of deconstruction emerged in the work of philosophers. Although the reasons for this can be debated, two of the more obvious explanations are the mainstream Anglo-American philosophers rarely studied the German and French philosophical traditions in great detail, and deconstruction's focus on discourse and interpretation has made it more attractive to the literary and humanistic disciplines. With this context, Strategies of Deconstruction focuses on the early work of Jacques Derrida, the French philosopher who introduced deconstruction in Speech and Phenomena,his study of Edmund Husserl, and Of Grammatology, and whose philosophical reputation stems in no small part from his work on Husserl. In examining the philosophical import of Derrida's theories of reading, text, and language, specifically as they related to Speech and Phenomena,J. Claude Evans makes careful reference to Husserl's own texts. His analysis indicates that there are many systematic irregularities in Derrida's study and that without those irregularities Derrida's conclusions cannot be substantiated.

In this book, the noted intellectual historian Frank Ankersmit provides a systematic account of the problems of reference, truth, and meaning in historical writing. He works from the conviction that the historicist account of historical writing, associated primarily with Leopold von Ranke and Wilhelm von Humboldt, is essentially correct but that its original idealist and romanticist idiom needs to be translated into more modern terms. Rehabilitating historicism for the contemporary philosophy of history, he argues, "reveals the basic truths about the nature of the past itself, how we relate to it, and how we make sense of the past in historical writing." At the heart of Ankersmit's project is a sharp distinction between interpretation and representation. The historical text, he holds, is first and foremost a representation of some part of the past, not an interpretation. The book's central chapters address the concept of historical representation from the perspectives of reference, truth, and meaning. Ankersmit then goes on to discuss the possible role of experience in the history writing, which leads directly to a consideration of subjectivity and ethics in the historian's practice. Ankersmit concludes with a chapter on political history, which he maintains is the "basis and condition of all other variants of historical writing." Ankersmit's rehabilitation of historicism is a powerfully original and provocative contribution to the debate about the nature of historical writing.
