Summarizes results of a mapping project in the vicinity of an Archean volcano-sedimentary greenstone belt within the Wawa Subprovince, located just north-east of White River, Ontario. The purpose of the project was to update the bedrock geology and provide a structural interpretation for timing and localization of a recently discovered gold deposit. The report includes information on the regional geology, metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks and their field relationships, intrusive rocks, geochemistry, structural geology, metamorphism, and tectonics. The "Sugar Zone" gold occurrence is also described and recommendations to prospectors are provided.

Barbara, Meader, and Pifher townships lie on the eastern side of Lake Nipigon and cover an area of 240 sq km. Field work was carried out during the summer of 1986 and consisted of mapping the Precambrian bedrock and mineral deposits. A large number of rock samples were collected, of which 94 were submitted for assays, principally gold and silver, 95 for thin sectioning and 54 for whole rock analysis. This report describes the geology, mineral deposits and exploration history of the area, as well as specific mines.

The map area is located east of Long Lake and comprises Daley Township and the eastern part of Ginoogaming First Nation Indian Reserve, formerly Long Lake Indian Reserve 77. Field work was carried out in summer 1988 and consisted of mapping the Precambrian bedrock and its mineral deposits. Rock samples were collected in the field, with 50 samples submitted for gold and silver assays, 40 for whole-rock geochemistry, and 88 for thin sectioning. This report describes the general geology, rock geochemistry, structural geology, metamorphism and alteration, geochronology, and economic geology of the area, including descriptions of existing properties, and the possibilities for gold, silver, base metals, iron, corundum, stone, and sand and gravel.
