Book Description
Occlusion focuses on rules that influence the achievement of perfect occlusion, particularly noting the design of the occlusal surfaces of dentures. The manuscript first offers information on the muscles, joints, and teeth, neuromuscular function, and positions and movements. Topics include mandibular joints and ligaments, roots and occlusal surfaces of the teeth, and muscles of mastication. The book then ponders on occlusion and articulation and functions of the masticatory system. The publication examines articulators and disturbances and disorders, as well as gnathological articulators, adjustable and plain-hinge articulators, and developmental and functional disturbances. The manuscript also takes a look at analysis and diagnosis and occlusion in fixed restorative procedures. Discussions focus on clinical analysis of occlusal function, articulator analysis, quadrant restorations and the unilateral bridge, and single restoration. The publication is a dependable source of data for dentists and readers interested in occlusion.

Book Description
The stomatognathic system is a complex and highly refined unit, consisting of the teeth, the temporomandibular joints and the neuromuscular mechanism. It has been suggested that occlusal disharmony or clenching influence the activity of the sternocleidomastoid and trapezius muscles and therefore affect neck position. Recently acquired data indicate that dental occlusion can also contribute to postural changes. This book outlines the basic mechanisms controlling occlusion and human posture and investigates whether clenching and occlusal instability in healthy adult subjects has an effect on postural control.

Book Description
Background: Temporary occlusal changes and their influence on the upper body statics are still controversially discussed. Furthermore, concrete statements on whether age- or gender-specific differences in neurophysiological reactions exist are missing. Therefore, it is the aim of this study to evaluate the immediate effects of a symmetrical occlusion blocking on the upper body posture. These effects shall be investigated for both genders and for a larger age range. Methods: In this study, 800 (407f/393)m) subjects volunteered aged from 21 to 60)years. Both genders were divided into four age groups according to decades. The three-dimensional upper body posture was measured by using the rasterstereography (ABW-Bodymapper). The habitual static posture was measured in two dental occlusion conditions (a) in rest position and (b) symmetrical blocking in the bicuspid region by cotton rolls. Results: A significant reduction of the trunk length (0.72)mm; p)
