Book Description
This document provides an overview of the Post Implementation Review (PIR) of the UK's Ecodesign for Energy-related Products Regulations 2010, (S.I. 2010/2617 as amended) (the 2010 Regulations'). These Regulations provide the legislative basis for the compliance regime for implementing measures made under the Ecodesign for Energy-related Products Directive1 (2009/125/EC) (the Directive' or the Ecodesign Directive'). This legislation underpins Government's continued commitment to ensure that products subject to implementing measures under the Directive are compliant with the relevant requirements, to ensure that the energy savings and consumer benefits that result from more energy efficient products are realised.

Book Description
The Ecodesign Framework Directive 2009/125/EC establishes a framework for laying down ecodesign requirements for energy-related products. It is a key instrument of EU policy for improving energy efficiency and other environmental performance-related aspects of products in the internal market. Article 16 of the Ecodesign Directive lists priority products, including consumer electronics, office equipment and domestic appliances, that were identified by the Council and the European Parliament and for which the Commission was to consider the implementation of appropriate measures, . Household dishwashers belong to this list of priority product groups, and an Ecodesign regulation on dishwashers have been in place since 2010 (see below), which is now subject to update and review (as summarised in the Ecodesign Working Plan 2016-2019). The application of the Ecodesign Directive is complemented by the Energy Labelling Framework Regulation (EU) No 2017/1369, which establishes a framework for the provision of accurate, relevant and comparable information on the specific energy consumption of product groups and other environmental information, and facilitates consumer choice in favour of more resource-efficient products. Moreover, the EU Energy Label provides a dynamic incentive for manufacturers to improve other environmentally-relevant aspects of their products, in addition to energy efficiency, and to accelerate the market take-up of more efficient models. The application of ecodesign and energy labelling requirements is complementary, in that ecodesign pushes the market upwards from minimum requirements, and energy labelling pulls the market towards best practice technologies. Therefore, a proposal for an ecodesign regulation of a specific product group is often accompanied by a proposal for a Delegated Act that defines energy labelling requirements for the same product group (provided that there is a positive outcome of the Impact Assessment) For ecodesign and energy labelling measures related to household dishwashers, the following regulations currently apply: - Commission Regulation (EU) No 1016/2010 of 10 November 2010 implementing Directive 2009/125/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to ecodesign requirements for household dishwashers. - Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 1059/2010 of 28 September 2010 supplementing Directive 2010/30/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council with regard to energy labelling of household dishwashers.

Book Description
The Mediterranean region has more than 25 million hectares of Mediterranean forests and about 50 million hectares of other Mediterranean wooded lands. They make crucial contributions to rural development, poverty alleviation, food security, as well as, the agricultural, water, tourism, and energy sectors. Changes in climate, societies, and lifestyles to create appropriate financial incentives and tools. in the Mediterranean region could have serious negative consequences for forests, with the potential to lead to the loss or diminution of those contributions and to a wide range of economic, social and environmental problems. In the future, Mediterranean forests will support agriculture and human wellbeing. It is therefore crucial to improve policies, practices, and to promote sustainable management to provide social and economic benefits as well as to increase the resilience of ecosystems and societies. This new edition of the State of Mediterranean Forests aims to demonstrate the importance of Mediterranean forests to implementing solutions to tackle global issues such as climate change and population increase. Part 1: The Mediterranean landscape: importance and threats. Despite the important natural capital provided by Mediterranean forests, they are under threats from climate change and population increase and other subsidiary drivers of forest degradation. Part 2: Mediterranean forest-based solutions. Forests and landscape restoration, adaptation of forests and adaptation using forests, climate change mitigation, and conserving biodiversity are additional and complementary approaches to address the drivers of forest degradation to the benefit of populations and the environment. Part 3: Creating an enabling environment to scale up solutions. To scale up and replicate forest-based solutions, there is a need to change the way we see the role of forests in the economy, to put in place relevant policies, more widespread participatory approaches, to recognize the economic value of the goods and services provided by forests and, ultimately, to create appropriate financial incentives and tools.

Book Description
This book is dedicated to the occurrence and behaviour of PHEs in the different compartments of the environment, with special reference to soil. Current studies of PHEs in ecosystems have indicated that many industrial areas near urban agglomerates, abandoned or active mines, major road systems and ultimately also agricultural land act as sources and at the same time sinks, of PHEs and large amounts of metals are recycled or dispersed in the environment, posing severe concerns to human health. Thanks to the collaboration of numerous colleagues, the book outlines the state of art in PHEs research in several countries and is enforced with case studies and enriched with new data, not published elsewhere. The book will provide to Stakeholders (both Scientists Professionals and Public Administrators) and also to non-specialists a lot of data on the concentrations of metals in soils and the environment and the critical levels so far established, in the perspective to improve the environmental quality and the human safety.
